hiyee! About the Charlie Brown thing, i was told something about the guy who writes them, damn whats his name? sorry, I've forgotten, but it really made me think. Charlie brown, the little lad who you always felt sorry for, was actually based on the writer, and he was in unrequited love with this other girl who was also made into the cartoon, but i forget what her name was. Who ever thinks of the guys who write the cartoons as having tortured lives? There was always a melancholy air to Charlie Brown but it never *connects* does it? Thhere was a pic of him accepting an award with massive characters of Snoopy behind him, and it was sad because these held him back from doing the great art he wanted to produce. not that Snoopy isn't great (in fact I named my hamster Snoopy cos i never had a dog) but you know what I mean. Quite sad i thought. Well, it is a monday evening. and to all the people who mailed me for tigermilk-let me know if you want radio sessions and if so what ones, just in case you need any..... Sorry for my bizzarre outburst about Brazillians, it's just that when asked why Brazillians are so good at football the only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that they all learn to play using coconuts instead of proper footballs. Toughens up your instep. Yes, I do like Tom Jobim, lovely, lovely, lovely, especially in Portuguese (which I can't understand), but quite nice in English too thanks to Jobim's voice which is not that of a professional singer (it says here). I think "Off-Key" would be most appropriate for Stuart Murdoch's charmingly wayward vocals. I also like "How Insensitive" very much. It's the song that roped me in, thanks to a version by those pesky Monkees. You have to be careful when purchasing Jobim albums as Sting seems to use them as a Trojan Horse type device to make his way into unsuspecting record collections. I've picked up that Peanuts album many a time, but I've never actually bought it. Time will tell whether or not Mussadiq's eloquent piece will persuade me to take the plunge. I have to say that this list is a much more effective marketing tool than the NME. Only an unfortunate lack of funding has prevented that Paul Simon album from entering my boudoir. And I don't like Paul Simon very much (at all), but the description was very intriguing. Which I suppose is a roundabout way of saying thanks for all the information and entertainment this list continues to provide me with. I tried to download the necessary software to come and play in the chatty room, but the little box said it would take an hour and eighteen minutes for the little cybermen to shovel it off the back of a lorry and wheelbarrow it into my computer terminal. So I thought you can stick it. This song is very nice too, Valsa De Porto Das Caixas, which must mean Waltz of the Port of Boxes. Am I right? It's definitely got more of a ring to it in Portuguese. Oh and by the way, I had a go on the magnetic poetry thing, but there's some strange force at work that turns every line into a pile of filth. And another thing - some friends of mine insist that they heard an instrumental version of Judy and the Dream of Horses as part of the piped music in a clothes shop. Not as unlikely as it sounds, I've heard such way out sounds as Teenage Fanclub in the same shop, but I said that there was no such thing as an instrumental version of JATDOH. Sinister: HELP - MANCHESTER GIGS

Sorry that this is a bit cheeky, especially if somebody is already co-ordinating this sort of thing, but though i've been on this list for a while i never seem to get chance to read barely anything these days...new job on psych ward i actually care about etc...anyway... Can anyone help - i'd written off the idea of going to the Manc gigs through lack of transport....but had been regretting it, so i called up this morning and found there are still tix available :) problem is getting back, to Birmingham after saturday's gig, or London after Sundays, for work on monday morning..... or maybe even somewhere to stay sat night to go back south on sunday....but then i'd want to stay for sundays gig and could.'nt get back to london. Sinister: Manc concerts

Hello fellow believers. Just joined the list and I wondered if anyone could help me. I'm going to the two concerts in Manc, and when I bought my tickets (from Piccadilly records in Manc) I spotted a small notice which mentined a B&S party type thingy on the Sunday (28th Dec). This seems promising, but no-one I've spoken to seems to know anything about it. Is there anyone else out there that could shed some light on this? But I'm NOT! hahahhhahhhahahhaahha Sing O muse of the godlike awesominity of Andrea Bergman, supplier of stateside Tigermilk tapes! I recieved the tape you (andrea) so graciously copied and sent; it came in yesterday; my roommate and I put it on the stereo really loud and soaked it all up. It was amazing and comforting; strange yet familiar. I could finally place my finger on many of the items the listees have chatted about: the Hal Hartley quote, Electronic Renaissance (and the New Order/Pet Shop Boys connection), Stuart M's demos, that annoying radio sessions DJ as he cuts off the songs just as they're about to blast off into legendary status... Everything. Wow. How were Stuart's demos obtained? Who originally got them? Were they released on radio, or some secret clandestine means in the backrooms of beaded boudoirs? Right now, after two listens, its I Don't Love Anyone (who sings this?), I Could Be Dreaming (session version), and London Has Let Me Down has to be one of the best titles ever. Hi everyone, it's update time! Ok, just spoken to Barry, and everyone who ordered tickets from the fanclub, should either have them, or they're in the post. If you have any worries that you haven't yet got your tickets from FOUNDATION ONLY, please phone me at Jeepster on 0181 964 9432, and i'll try to track them down. Please don't e-mail, as it just makes it too complex. Call between 10am and 6pm weekdays. There are still tickets lefty for sale at Piccadilly Records in Manchester, they are taking chq and some credit card orders, so phone Laura on 0161 839 8008. If you are worried about your tickets that were purchased anywhere other than Foundation, please contact them directly, as i can't do anything about the other outlets. Also, Barry has asked me to get in contact with PHIL GORMAN and CHRISTOPHER ORAM. If anyway knows these people, please get them to phone me at Jeepster, as Christopher didn't give his address and Phil didn't say how many tickets he wants and for what nights. Thanks to Andy Dean for organising the list of people who want to meet-up. We're still trying to organise the meet-up, again details available after the 15th by phoning David and I at home (0181 560 1815).
