Let's not forget the twang of pain the snake belt could bring if it fell into the wrong hands ?. The LAnt jackets i remember were kinda beigey "blouson" style jackets with cheesey tartan linings, zip-up pockets and elasticated wrists... it was required to wear brown corduroy trousers with them, preferably half masts, and to carry an old style leather-look brown satchel with broken buckles containing a half eaten marmite (or nutella?) sandwhich . Don't forget your Spangles and Bazooka Joe's. Oh and if you were outside school and looking a bit smart, surely a tank top designed with no due care or attention was standard ?. While on the subject of smut, i just wanted to brighten your days up and tell you, nay, confess, that belle and sebby makes me want to have long-endurance sex. In the daytime. perhaps on a couch. particular songs that inspire this reflection: seeing other people, summer wasting, and rollercoaster ride. perhaps not even sex, just the kissing, clothes still on bit. with the clumsy, drowsy hands. more fantasy: the cat has politely relinquished his territory to the excess of male and flailing, rocking and rolling, a mysterious but not uncommon bed phenomenon , to his view. he is, actually, indifferent. he is neutered. That is not the point, however. the point is, my stereo can carry 5 CDs and has a continuous function, thus allowing me and imaginary lover 3-5 hours of musical pleasure, the majority of which may be belle and sebby. Incidentally, belle and sebby songs have yet to be introduced into sex life, but if it ever does, let it be some lovely sunny day, perhaps the first sunny day in Spring, after a snuggly and somewhat overheated noontime nap. Clothes on. messing around with clothes on sems so oddly appropriate for belle and sebby. That innocence, high school beautiful naive sex thing. just though i would point that out to you. Sinister: My tape tree tape/all day B&S/Field Mice

Hello all you people, Who has my tape tree tape? No one has written me to say they loved it! Which obviously means that you all loved it, but are too lazy to write me about it! Well, at least one person seemed to like it, but I had to ask him before he told me that he absolutely loved it. So I implore you: if you love my or another's tape, write to them (or me!) and say "good show," or "loved that Birdie song," "loved that Left Banke song," etc. etc. etc. Also, I am pleased to report that listening to B&S improves productivity. Today I listened first to TWERPYBITS, then to my recently acquired copy of 3..6..9 Seconds of Light, then Lazy Line Painter Jane, then to 369 again, then TWATTYBUS one more time. Well, I only got halfway through "Rollercoaster Ride," but you understand. Anyway, most of the time I was listening, I was working on things for my graphic design class, and as a result of this, my ink drawing (a technique requiring one to use a paintbrush to apply the ink, rather than a keyboard in the more popular ink polaroid) turned out beautifully. Well, it turned out much better than the awful sketches I had done, anyway. I hope my professor likes it. So listening to B&S pays off! My favorite song of the evening was "Beautiful," which sounds a lot like "Rhoda," for those that haven't heard the elusive tune, and can't get a tape. Oh, and on an unrelated note, as I understand it the Field Mice retrospective hit the stores today in the UK. Supposedly it's quite widely available. So if you're curious as to why all the other B&S fans like them, go buy it! I will as soon as I can. They're the only band I can say I honestly like more than B&S (dodges various vegetables). Sinister: sordid perv shocka

My reading of the "thrush from licking railings" lines was that said heroine was bending over, her face pressed in imagined ecstasy against park railings as she was cruelly entered from behind by one of the many boys she was willing to get "in the mud, on her knees" for. The candida infection was, to me, just an unfortunate side-effect of the joy of giving. Honestly. This was the first song that made me believe that B&S weren't just innocent, cuddly-things-discussing virgins, but actually hot sex monsters (apart from Mick Cooke, who I reckon is all mooth (and boy, what a mooth), but nae troosers). I was a bit shaken at first, but quickly realised that it's their ability to touch so poetically on all areas of life's experience that made me love them so much. Having said that, if anyone can enlighten me that LLPJ is about something other than a girl who's only way of enticing the attention of others, and thus proving her own self-worth, is by sleeping with them, please let me know. I've been accepting this version of events for the past nine months, and I find it quite a sad tale.
