See the other day when I was apologising for beeing late. Well I have to apologise for my apology, because it sounded like I was having a go at National Park for making us late, and nothing could be further from the truth. Even if there were a few adjustments to be made after they played it was absolutely nothing to do with them that we were late. I'm sorry to John and Scott and De Mouche and The Rebel if I gave that impression. It's a beautiful sunny day in Glasgow and we're going to record a song today, so I better go and get the kettle on for the workers. Sinister: Twice! Soul Weekendah

Hell's teeth it appears that the Duke's been at the pub TWICE last night! That's not bad Alastair, you must've been more pissed than I was after the Shepherd's bush empire gig. I'm going to go to the pub tonight for some drinks I think. More precisely, it's the Greentree on the Cowgate at 8:30 in Edinburgh if anyone fancies it. James Errington wrote : (A). I'm VERY dissapointed at how conservative all these musical taste lists seem to be. No, really. The Smiths, Tindersticks, Radiohead and the Jesus & Mary Chain seem to be in all of the things. I guess the entire list owes "Weejay" an apology for their conservative tastes. Next time we'll all have to match up to his more exacting standards, remember kids next time you post a large list of bands, regardless of whether you like them or not, make sure they're not what Weejay would be expecting. Bear in mind that all 700 of us really ought to be making sure we don't disappoint him. Tag Wrote : Anyone fancy a pint? Fucking right mate. Let's do it, it's cracking on a bit isn't it. Right the Sinister Soul Weekender, what do people reckon to a weekender bash then? Would anyone come along? If we all went to Butlins and had some crazy times next summer for example? I think we need to concentrate on the one party thing that we appear to be having in Manchester around about New Year for the moment, but a big weekend would be a great laugh, who knows what might go on, it'd be well exciting and give everyone a great chance to meet each other. The mood on the list is always a lot better just after there have been gigs, cause people who've had differences on the list wind up meeting each other and discover that they're really nice people after all. Sinister: Monday Poem on Tuesday

In the finest tradition of the Monday poem, I'm a day late after offering to do it. Oh well. Simon Armitage is a Yorkshire poet who many of you will be familiar with from the much-missed Mark Radcliffe Graveyard Shift. As well as writing 5 books of poetry, he has also written a fine play called "Eclipse" and he has a prose book out now called "All Points North" which is well worth checking out when the paperback comes around. I've taken this one down myself from an audio tape by Simon called "Wild Blue Yonder", so apologies for any mistakes, etc. and all punctuation is mine (never my strongest point). I always think his poems sound better when he's reading them, as you miss certain stresses when the poems are written down (he almost spits out the words "You baby" at the end of this poem on the tape). The poem was written around the time that Robin was due to be dumped from the Batman comics - Armitage feels that Robin was "linguistically at least" the more important of the two. For next week's, I nominate Chris Leonard on the condition that his poem doesn't contain the word "pish". If he hasn't been "it" already. Sinister: feeling sinister

Salut les copains, bonjour a l'autre Julien francais! Et a tous les autres aussi. Warning: no list in that mail, just bits of my life in Japan... The other day, in that tiny record shop in Nara, I fell instantly in love with that Japanese young girl (brunette, lovely glasses, perfect skirt) who was buying the vynil version of our beloved TwattyBus. How I wish I spoke better Japanese and said to her "I wanna know you girl!" That really made me sigh. Today Pulp are playing in Osaka. I have a ticket. I am sooo excited. BUT there is a typhoon over Osaka, I am currently watching it by the window of my office. And the trains do not work. Which means I am stuck at work. How sad, isn't it? After a few weeks of intensive Twattying, I must admit that I can't decide which is my favorite song. Everytime someone sends a mail saying: "how about that one" I say "yes you're right"... I agree with every person. Maybe I have a slight preference for "It's a cricket not a pear" cause I can play it on the guitar. I don't sing as well as Isobel though. I totally agree with Julien, who said TwattyBus made him think about "loaded" by VU.
