Hi kiddoes. Got a new job and I've been busy getting to know everyone in the office and trying to fool them into thinking I'm fairly professional hard-working person. But now that I've pulled the wool over their eyes I think I can play again. I picked out some nice Belle and Sebastian decorations for my cubicle, I might add, but so far no one has commented, despite this being a "young" office. I'm not new to the list although I'm not exactly an old-timer either. You may remember me from such posts as SF bus stories. And if you don't -- that's cool. HEY!!!!!! A friend of a friend of mine recently started a new job and sitting innocently on her desk she found a tape labeled "Tigermilk-Belle and Sebastian." Then upon turning on her computer she came across B & S wallpaper. Intrigued, she put the tape in her walkman and has been a fan ever since. This tickled me--Belle and Sebastian outreach? Is this like the Gideon Bibles you find in hotel rooms? So it's great to have Honey back on the scene--I was beginning to wonder if he had left for good. But I was glad to see his smiling face again. .. Honey's back and moaning already :) General request to focus a little bit here so that we preserve what was a great first two weeks of 1999 on the list. Thinking before you post if everyone wants to hear what you're typing in, and if it's not taking a prolonged thread of conversation too far - just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to. At the risk of repeating repeating myself again all over again, for the newcomers: a. Please finely hone your posts to vital stuff that you've thought over and condensed for hours before sending, or is incredibly funny, b. If you're posting more than two mails a day something is probably wrong - please wait and respond to all the mails you want to respond to in one exquisite, creative and witty mail, c. Please go off and use the tasty "Search" on the WWW page below if you're new and want information on something, e.g. Nick Drake - there's staggering amounts of Drakisms already in the archive. Everyone will appreciate it if you look before you mail :) d. Ho ho read the list rules. This is non-negotiable and action will be taken if they're obviously being ignored. None of this is meant to point fingers at anyone, and you do know I love you all don't you? I just don't want the number of posts to get so massive per day again that no-one can keep up and everyone starts reading 1% of the list and running round in circles with their very tasty underwear round their ankles. Finally, someone mentioned that Spanish band on Stuart David's Treehouse site. They're called Migala and what I've heard sounds great, so I'd recommend you all pop along. Stuart asked me to mention it and I forgot in my Christmas slumber, and also, go and see the animation online called "Block" by Edinburgh's own Duncan Nichol. It's great and will give you nightmares. Finally, Mrs Murdoch will be making Stuart his tea live next week on the same site, so I'm told, sit tight for announcements soon. Sinister: Already in my dreams!

Hello everyone!!!!!! Yes, I'm one more new sinisterine! I've been just "watching" for some days and I couldn't decide when to start posting...you know, I had to think of something smart or nice so you'd like me! Well, I couldn't find the right stuff ( maybe I'm boring? NOOO ), so I kept delaying that important day.But the moment arrived this morning when I woke up and remembered the dream I've had had. I don't know you at all and I'm dreaming about you already... I was lining up for a check-up in Africa ( !!!! ) and as it was a never-ending line I thought I'd drop by a b&s meet up in flat nearby. It was an old place, a wooden attic. Everybody was very nice but... the shocking thing was that all of you were like about 45!!! It was like: "welcome to sinister!I've been in the list for 17 years." Anyway I thought that was normal and joined the party. There was this beautiful porch and you could see the night sky all starry and pretty and that...Then somebody brought many, many chocolate boxes, and cookies and marzipans...but nobody went to try them ( but me: really delicious cd-shaped cookies!) because you were having such a lot of fun dancing, but no normal dances, no... it was like that moment in Titanic when they dance and the camera spins around and they all clap! Like B&S version of Titanic!!!!!Bit scary...Luckily, Little Di Caprio didn't show up!!!! It ends here. I think that's too weird, it has to be the sign I've been waiting for!So here it goes: Hello!!!!!! First kisses to everybody.See you tonight,maybe!!!! alright.. quick replies to everyone. i'm 700 pages into gravity's rainbow and i doubt i will ever finish the damn thing. i only got that far by refusing to let myself find other books to read. but the bits with bananas are good. i've been meaning to read girlfriend in a coma ever since i knew it existed. i guy i used to have a crush on would run around singing the smiths song of the same name most of my underwear falls under the hanes bikini section, but they made some "sporty" string bikinis which are also really cute.. but tend to stick up over your pants. i want batman underwear! i borrowed some nick drake.. but i didn't really get into it, got the impresssion of it being nice background music, ok to drive to. i went shopping yesterday and bought purple velvet pants and the boy with the arab strap. both of which are absolutely lovely. and i get to wear the pants to a tommorow people concert tonight, who i'm sure you've never heard of , but i will happily send you tapes, unless we have given the cd back to it's owner. we almost sang "oh, get me away from here i'm dying" at new years, but despite mangaling, we could not get anything to pretend it was a g string. (which seems so natural i didn't get the punniness of it all until it was brought up in an underwear/guitar manner) i have a blue stain bra, but i'm not wearing one right now, seeing as i just got up.... just so the other people in my area will sit up and take notice: i'm in dallas, texas which is probably the last place you would expect B&S fans. Gabi: yes indeed did Morrissey live on King's Road, but I can't remember what number now. Ridiculously, there's no commemorative plaque or owt like that I'm afraid ('And every slag waves me on/Secretly wishing me gone' - Moz's connections with Manchester have been at times strained 'When I lived in the arse of world'). And what do _I_ get for my trouble and pain? You guessed it - just a rented room in Whalley Range. Hurumph. And oh Nick Drake. Like a big 6ft cherub lost and slightly befuddled by this modern world (well, the '60s). Have a nuzzle round 'Bryter Layter' why doncha? You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be envious of his shoes. Oh yes. And now he's dead. For general consumption: my pants today - at half mast. My shoes today: big clumping LA Gear brown suede Florence-out-of-The-Magic-Roundabout affairs. On my CD player today: Nanci Griffith's 'There's A Light Beyond These Woods'. Beauty ain't in it. Now then. Dreams about B&S in no undergarments, eh? Who'd have thought that a B&S fanbase would produce so many hormones? Aren't we all meant to be fay tea-drinking pansies whose greatest thrills arrive from licking knitting patterns? Sinister: Lizards in lingerie and Will Oldham

More on underwear. In February UNCUT, Chris Roberts writes that Sade's songs are "languid, lazy, luscious, and lap at your erogenous zones like lizards in lingerie." Anybody tried that? In the same review, he also refers to "the sexiness of mermaids in ballgowns". Who could resist that kind of magazine? To be fair, he ends the review saying that he has no shame. The same magazine gives a top of the class review to Will Oldham/Bonnie "Prince" Billy/Palace. He's appearing in Dublin at the end of the month. Definitely worth going to see or no? B&S: The conquest of Ireland is moving along. Virgin Dublin is, belatedly, giving DOW and 3...6...9 a push at the moment. TISAMRS also got a display position. And whatever batches of TBWTAS and IYFS are put on the racks move very quickly. B&S live in Dublin in March, still?
