Like-minded, What with tha B&S fest in England happening shortly, the flourishing picnic scene, general list camraderie, et al, it seems silly that the idea of a commune, composed of this list, has not taken hold. Perhaps a few baby steps could be taken at the Camber thing: impregnating ladies, growing beards (not you, ladies!), wearing macrame, etc. Of course, I can't take credit for the idea as I purchased an amusing little trifle of a manifesto last night called "Hey Beatnik," put out around 1970 by a Tennessee commune. Lots of heavy and helpful information, so try not to let the shocking misogny bum you out. Here's a few choice bits, please contact me for a transcription of the entire book. 1) If you plan to keep horses, remember you're getting involved with life and death karma. 2) To get through the [commune's] gate, you've got to work it out with the gate man. The gate man believes in telling the truth. It's a yoga, the gate is a yoga unto itself. 3) We say that we're like a mental nudist colony, and you have to take off your head clothes. 4) (On making outhouses) We've been working out our cultural shit-shock as we go. 5) Deep in your heart, you know that it's a lot harder and takes a lot more patience and a lot more character to tune a car than it does to write an English paper. 6) Sometimes folks are so heavy at weddings-people say their vows so heavy and so pure it just stones everybody. 7) Talk about women's lib, how about unborn babies' lib? 8) Ladies are supposed to take it upon themseles to create a field among them as far as their influence can reach that's nice and smells good and feels good. 9) Single cats shouldn't never spank nobody else's kid. That causes a lot of beatnik trouble. Sinister: Gentle Waves video and PLEA TO PHILIPPE!!!

hey hey Earthquakes! Just another B&S related posting about me seeing the Gentle Waves video on Beat UK (A Japanese/British show on cable that my friend taped for me:) It wasn't the whole song ("weathershow" is that it?) but most of it. Isobel looks just like she does in the first few promo pics of B&S- i.e. cute and adorable (she might hate me for saying that!). The song itself is very rockin' and quite infectious...Is that Stuart Murdoch I see playing guitar in the video??? anyhoo very nice indeed and a pleasant surprise. btw all those people who have not seen "Cruel Intentions" by now (and if it has already opened where you live) GO SEE IT!!! It is truly an excellent movie and is the wickedest movie you'll see all year. Have also seen "The Matrix" by now (filmed in Sydney!!! Just like the awesome "Dark City") which is one of the coolest and most inventive films I've EVER seen. Keanu and hooray "Models INC" alumni Carrie Ann Moss look dead cool and the film is so exciting and visually original that it's another must-see. On a more sombre note, this is a frantic call out to Philippe Garnier. Philippe I've written you more than six emails now and you have not replied to a single one of them. I know you're probably very busy (but hey so am I:)) but it doesn't take long to write a short email back to me. Sinister: bird maulings and british embassy

I've never actually been 'mauled' by a bird, but each day as i leave the metro there seems to be an inordinate amount of pigeons in my way. they live in the arches of union station, and they have stopped scattering from my path....i now have to walk around them....and sometimes they actually dive bomb me....i think i'll start using a different metro to walk home from.... Sinister: Camber's cool!

Hello List Last week anticipation got the better of us and me and andrew thought we'd check out camber sands. it is soooo cool, a huge big bright blue place. we couldn't get into the site but we could peek in through the car park and it looks great. the chalets don't look nearly as bad as the photos on the website and there's little grass playing areas in front of each group of chalets. it really is only 5 minutes from the beach - and even better there's loads of amusements opposite including 'mini vegas'! cool! it only takes about an hour and half from brighton and if you go by car you'll also get to see the awesome 'long man' on the way. Sinister: tequilla! it makes me happy!

Hi kids do you know DO YOU KNOW that there is only one weekend left till Camber? Oh my lord! I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and hey might even eat a Crunchie. Cos hey its that Friday Feeling. I've been listening to my free cd that came with THE WIRE. And I was sadly surprised to see The Wire has sold out.. some noises actually formed TUNES!! Blimey. what does "llevar un balón en el maletero" mean? I looked it up found something along the lines of "to take a ball in the saddle-maker"... which doesn't sound that sensible to me. Is it some spanish idiom? Like "best of british" isn't talking about beef or the sice (?! bsessive boo radleys fans haw haw i'll get me goat ) girls it actually means "bad luck" or something like that? Theres a woman who wrote a book which explains every slang term in English for sale in Waterstones somewhere. Its still not my favourite book, that will always be the marvellous gay phrasebook for europe. I wish I could remember what they said the Spanish for "sorry, I do not like fisting" is. Um, not because I get in those situations oh GAWD I'll just give up NOW shall I... I'd prefer a nice cup of tea frankly. Oooh! Whenever I think of Bowlie a shuder of JOY runs through me! But then, oh no! Its The Fear! I only have one more weekend to lose three stone in!! And to get a new face! Oh my LORD this is awful. Can't anyone postpone Bowlie while I lose weight so I can look stunningly iressitible? Bowlie 2027 has a nice ring to it...CHIZ. Oh well! Bowlie should be so much FUN I don't care! David - even though you're not on Sinister anymore, doh! Anyone! Do they have CAFFREYS onsite? A certain person who doesn't post often has promised to buy me a pint of that beverage. For those who bothered to turn up to the Mini Manc Picnic, Smiley Culture's other hit single was apparently 'Cockney Translation'. Oh, and to make those who were there chuckle, can I just say "T-shirt wanker". Sorry, private joke there. Sinister: Can't stop the music

Hello You Lot. This top ten series on Channel 4 is great. Tonight it was disco, presented by Huggy Bear (the Starsky and Hutch one, not the band). Nice to see Kraftwerk smiling and finding out that Roger Daltrey hated disco. Was it him who was heard to mutter "watch your backs" as the Village People were announced? Mayve Keith knows. Mick wrote of the St Winifred's school choir: >but neither of us wanted to cough up $5.50 for a song with lyrics sung >in French when the English version was on the album. I remember an interview with Lisa-Marie Presley and Michael Jackson where they were asked if they'd like to live abroad. Lisa-Marie said, "Abroad?
