Sinister: Secret Goldfish - tie to b&s? does anyone have a site with a _complete_ discography? and where is the Easter Beagle?

Now, I just saw for sale an ep by Secret Goldfish claiming it features 'Belle and Sebastian guitarist'. Anyone know about this? I tried checking the trusty archives, but it appeared it was down for maintenance this evening. I have some Secret Goldfish on a few Creeping Bent samplers, but I know little else of them. Does anyone have a complete discography going? no no, not one of those that works for 99.9% of the music loving population, but ones for the super geeks out here :) well, if you do have one, let me know, as I would like to see it. There are several French and US promos ( and I am sure UK ones, and Japanese too perhaps? ). I know of 3 French promotional cd releases for the latest album ( for 'Is It Wicked Not To Care?', 'Dirty Dream #2' and the full length 'The Boy With The Arab Strap' all in nice little cardsleeves, a bit plain looking but still interesting ). As far as the US there is the promotional cd single for 'Like Dylan In The Movies', with a nice lil' blue cover insert, the stickered covered Enclave promo for 'If You're Feeling Sinister' and the SXSW Enclave sampler cd which features two B&S tracks ( I forget which ones now - one is 'Judy and The Dream of Horses' ), along with the stickered cardsleeve promo of TBWTAS. I would think there are some UK equivalents out there as well, which I don't have, but it might be interesting to see all this info collected in one place, along with press kit info, etc. I might be able to send you scans of some of this stuff if you have a website going that archives every release in every format in every country. but maybe such a thing doesn't exist. there was no Easter Beagle 'Peanuts' cartoon today, I was sorely let down, I recall when it was a tradition. ...yes, it all went a bit pear-shaped for me on the picnic front yesterday. After a night of frantic baking, I was too dozy and shy to randomly accost likely-looking cute strangers amongst the throng outside Camden Town tube... so I ended up wandering home, and taking my cake with me, untouched... ...sob. ...did everybody else manage to meet up ok though?... what did I miss?... ...luckily the Gentle Waves cheered my heart come the evening, bless 'em... it was a sparkling and lovely show (hurrah!)... ...oh, by the way, I don't know if anybody's already made this observation (apologies if I'm repeating this) but wasn't 'Kinky Love' originally a Nancy Sinatra song (more recently covered by the Pale Saints - that's where I know it from, anyway)? ...tatty bye for now, janey applecake +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". Sinister: Rubbing Elbows with the Infamous

Hello Sinisterines... Ah, you may have had (or not had) your Gentle Waves, you may have had your picnics, meetups, Primrose Hills and pubs, your Seders, your Easter Egg hunts, High Masses and the whole thing... BUT you can all eat your hearts out because *I* met the one and only, the infamous, the platinum-haired, expatriated star of the cyber-cam, yes indeed -- RODDDDDDDD -- in Boston this weekend. So there, HA! He was wearing the universal Symbol of Sinisterhood, the Honey-mandated upsidedown B&S badge ... he was rawking and jiving to Super Furry Animals with great abandon and he did NOT spill a single drop of beer. We chatted about things Sinister and Bostonian, he capped the evening with some fine dance moves to Olivia Tremor Control, drained his last glass with panache and faded into the night, leaving the entire club wondering, "Who WAS that masked man?" Sinister: the good debt

My mother told me that the debt I have accumulated to go to Bowlie is "good debt". I'm not sure what "bad debt" is--she mentioned something involving gambling and pool halls. So when the debt collectors start knocking on my door, I will just tell them that my debts are good. Oh, it doesn't work that way? It's all the same in the poorhouse I suppose. Sinister: Dirty Dream vid on RAGE (lots of B&S content!)

Hey lovely listees (LL!) By now I hope you will have checked out the *fabu* virtual card I sent to the list about this great new movie "Cruel Intentions". But I was reading the card and my message is cut off! Boo! Well what I mean to say, is that I've seen the movie and totally LOVED it so thought I'd share it will all you guys- since sharing is caring! The acting is fantastic, particularly Sarah Michelle Gellar's (a total change from "Buffy" and an effective one too- she's WONDERFUL as the venomous bitch!) and Reese Witherspoon's performances who prove themselves to be among the finest of the new crop of actors (along with Christina Ricci of course). Most importantly and pertinent to you folks though is that there is far more than enough delightfully wicked smut in the film to keep any Sinisterine satisfied:) So with such great twists updating one of the strongest narratives of all time ("Les Liaisons Dangereuses"), a wonderfully trashy and nasty dialogue, great performances, you end up with a movie you can't afford to miss. Go see it listees, you won't be disappointed! It's definitely one of my fave movies of the year already. What I'm also posting about is praise to God, some actual B&S content!!! What you say in amazement, yes it's all true!!! I've just seen the video for "Dirty Dream no 2" on this late night video show here in Australia called "Rage" and it's erm interesting!:) A cool lo-fi video showing quite a lot of people doing quite a lot of strange off-beat things. I definitely be keeping the vid for keeps cos everything B&S do is momentous right? I dimly remember months ago that someone on the list had invited everyone in Athens at a certain time to come and be a part of the video. So is this the video they selected for use in the end??? Help me out here! Someone tell me what's going on:) If they actually used a fan made video, that is just so unbelievably COOL AND GREAT, just another reason to add to the multitude of reasons I already have, about why I love Belle and Sebastian so much. I don't think any other band in history have interacted with their fans on such a level before. So I should assume that all the people in the vid are listees- wow YOU GUYS! YOU'RE FAMOUS NOW!!!:):) Would have LOVED to participate, if only I wasn't stuck here in Australia! On the topic of videos, I'm sorry to have missed seeing the "Is It Wicked Not To Care?" video (Australian listees, did they show this on "Rage" and did I miss it???) I saw a clip of it when I was in London, but alas it was too short. Looked really lovely though, all very atmospheric and gorgeous. Can anyone who's seen it tell me what it's like and what's it about? On a final video-related note, the video for the new Lamb single "B-Line" ROCKS! Lamb always make very interesting arty vids (check out the AMAZING video for "Gorecki") and this one is no exception. There is such a perfect synchronicity between song and image. Excellent! Go see. Sinister: Thinking Of A Snappy Subject Is Always The Hardest Part

Hi Fragrant Ones, In preparation for Sunday's family outing to the gig at The Improv I've been listening to The Jumble Sales album several times over the last couple of days. (Which is easier to do than you might think, seeing as it weighs in at a rather scrawny 31 minutes :( ). Immediate grabbers, apart from the two P!O!P tunes we know and love from the single, are the country flavoured "Renew & Restore" (pretty tune vaguely remniscent of the Grateful Dead's "Ripple" (!) and excellent Glen D. Hardin piano from Christopher Thomas Geddes) and what I think is the real jewel in the crown, "A Chapter in The Life Of Mathiew" (Even prettier tune, catchy chorus, beautiful tinkly guitar/piano/glockenspiel playing, breathy background vocals from Mrs Murdoch's talented son.) Can't get it out of my head: a fantastic track which wouldn't shame, or be out of place on, a Belle and Sebastian album. And what finer compliment could there be than that? Non B&S content? I still have to shake my head and jig about whenever I hear "Flat Beats", and I'm getting whiplash/RSI from those speeded up bits. Sinister: proposed Chicago-area meetup

I would like to arrange a meetup for Chicago-area listmembers. Ordinarily, I should be one of the last candidates to organize something that resembles a party. Among this crowd, though, my qualifications are probably about average. So let's give it a try. If you would be interested, get in touch. If you can suggest a place to meet, an activity, etc., please do. This is only of interest to a very small number of listmembers, so please be sure to reply only to me. What we do would depend in part on how many people are interested. So far there are 3 of us. (2 people expressed interest when I floated the idea in another message on another topic.) Sinister: poo to copolymers, yay to right-hand drive vehicles

hi sinisterines, you've no doubt missed me over these last few weeks. i can tell, because not only were you deprived of my lovely list posts but there are oh-so-few of you that have kept up at the tweesocks headquarters (bastards!). so what has jessica been up to, you ask? well, i've been in glorious england, glorious portsmouth to be precise, don't bother heading out to the nearest hmv or virgin for the gentle waves or looper because they don't have them. and i had my heart set, too... but that disappointment was skilfully counteracted by a certain sweet grr, who sensed my emptiness and filled it with dinner and a pint. bless him. i was also a bit saddened that i didn't have the privilege of meeting up with any of you lovely kids, even those of you that tried. such is the bane of the existence of a girl prone to extended lie-ins and overindulgence of shreddies. i'll have to buy myself tetley tea in the round bags and have it with milk every morning. it's become such a habit. and for those of you who don't know, american and british shreddies are different. the uk ones are much better. and i am horribly jetlagged, i've been up since 3 this morning because i somehow believe that it's 9am, even though it very clearly isn't. i would swear to you that it's after 5pm right now, but everything around me points to 11am. how sad. but what's not sad is the fun that i had: didn't get to see any bands, but did see a positively phenomenal show called "incognito" put on by the jumpstart dance company (also had the pleasure of learning about the ins and outs of british lighting and electricity, as well as how to steer a large piece of scaffolding when there's a man on the top) - if any of you get the chance to see it, please do. you'll have an epiphany. the next two shows are on 28 april at the west end centre, aldershot, and then on 29 april at coventry university of performing arts. and there's no need to underestimate walks by the sea or evenings spent in a flat, shooting all the bad guys on a playstation. also of note were b+s-related sightings in british magazines: gentle waves in the face, and looper in dazed and confused. but i think someone may have mentioned them already. i've also developed a secret delgadoes crush. shhh, everyone, i like to remain low profile. i suppose that's it, then - entertaining oneself in the wee hours of the day seems to affect the brain in a strange way. i'm not usually using this crap aol email, but it's where i am right now. variety is the spice of life, as they say. love, jessicaxo +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net".
