Sinister: A Hooligan Writes

I am indeed a hooligan. Today I went to Top Man to buy a zip up top, which means that tonight I'll be out on the piss, shagging birds, disturbing the peace and eating kebabs, and tomorrow I'll be back down to Top Man to buy a suit for my court appearance. Ken already knows how RAWK I can be, having witnessed my anti architechture rants and spitting fits in #sinister. Permission to panic, sir. I am going on another holiday tomorrow, just about the RAWKest holiday ever: buxton, derbyshire in my mum and dad's caravan. The thing is, the loved one and I are going together. This will be odd and frightening as we normally get fed up with each other after a day or two and then we go home. But, as we'll be living in a tin box on wheels for more than two days, sparks will fly and I may be led to committed violent acts. And as the loved one is Action Sindy and I'm Apathetic Sindy, it should be interesting trying to make plans for the day. If anyone is in the ares and spots a girl reading a book in a tin box and sulking, while another girl in wellies runs around saying "You are sooooo boring!" then do pop over and say hello. It'll be us, enjoying our romantic break. I was book shopping in The Works yesterday in my B&S T shirt and the lass at the desk said "oooh, like the T-shirt". It turned out she'd been to see them in Birmingham too and we had a little chat about how great the Scottish P!O!P! (allegedly) duo were. Do you think other people strike up conversations with people sporting T-shirts of their favourite bands? (apologies for terrible sentence construction) Or are B&S fans just a little bit more friendly? Perhaps it's because there's a sort of (what's the word?) cult/obsession type thing about B&S. Perhaps it's because people who like B&S tend to like lots of the same other things. Or perhaps they're all used to being laughed at by their mates for liking twee indie pop and are just overjoyed to meet someone else who gets laughed at by their friends. *shrugs* I have been listening to Slip Into Something More Comfortable by Kinobe recently and having fantasies of being an ice skater. I reckon the bass in that song sounds a bit like Ravel's Bolero, what Torville and Dean ice-boogied to. It has that dumdumdum dummmm thing too it. Perhaps. Maybe. I think that's about it really. Erm.... Yep, that's it. Sinister: You've probably been asked this before...

I supose I should introduce meself. My name is Will and I hail from the North-East of Scotland, though I am a student in the North-East of England. Never mind though (j/k). Anyway, I'll make this brief. The bit that you will have been asked before is: odoes anyone know where I can get a B&S ringtone or the keypresses for such for my mobile phone (Nokia)? It is all I need to complete my ideal ringtone set. Also, B&S logo's (if they exsit). If anyone can help then I would be eternally greatful. Not that usefull, maybe, but nice all the same. Will P.S. Sinister: crashing through the parlor doors what was your first reaction

hello sinister. well, here i sit again in front of this unorganized alphabet picking out words. i do think i shall use these letters to tell you all about the horrible, frightening realization i came to last night. first, though, i must attend to the vending room and get a little something to nibble. my arse is going to get as big as isobel's, though if it would inspire such weeks of discussion, i wouldn't be entirely disappointed. ok. ready. i write for a small artsy paper here in town, and my latest assignment is to cover an art show opening, contents, artist, etc. so last night, i scheduled an interview with the young artiste -- an interview which, i was informed, would be conducted during a party. so fine, good, great, i said in my reporter voice and jumped in my car (which i love), tape recorder in hand. i showed up at the large, somewhat shabby house to which i had been directed and fluttered inside to find what looked like the beginnings of a local twee gathering. now, i have, for quite sometime, fancied myself the displaced twee maiden, sporting little buttons and black-framed, pink-lensed glasses, just waiting to stumble upon the fairy forest of fellow indie people. and there it was! i thought i had found my people. but as i sat one the one piece of furniture in the exquisitely hot house (next to a nice boy whose glasses resembled my own, i might insert) waiting for the artist to arrive, i began to feel a bit out of place. perhaps it was because i didn't know the kids very well. i tried to make dreaded small talk, and succeeded to some degree. then artist, when he came, was quite friendly. but then the interview was done and the only thing i had to talk to was my tape player. maybe i'm too shy. maybe the midwestern twee folk are of a different strain. or maybe, i saw, with an overwhelming horror, i am a wannabe. yikes. so i left, no longer a displaced twee, just displaced. and the feeling hasn't gone away since, sadly. so now i'll just retreat to the lone chair on the fringes of the clique, and eat my animal crackers and watch the fun people have fun before me. love, your resident outcast outcast, lindsey _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Sinister: new b&s-site.

Hey! Time to step out of the shadows (er). My name is Astrid, I´m 15 and I´m from Stockholm. There is some nice places to hang out, but sometimes it is a bit boring. Think of it: Stockholm is the largest city in Sweden, and we have like.. one million people here? My oldest sister lives in Reading. Well, she moved, because she´s just graduatet from the university. I was there then, it was so lovely. Ah, the robes, the speaches, the.. formality of it all. Here we just like get a letter that says congratulations. Since one and a half year back I am obsessive about belle and sebastian. Why shouldn´t you be? I am starting up a new b&s-site, and I need your help. The thing is, it won´t have pics, bio etc etc, because there are so many brilliant sites with just that purpose already. What I need is your stories. Not novels, or anything. No, this is strictly belle and sebastian. The site will be about stories. How you discovered b&s, why you love them so much etc. It can be about anything as long it´s about your relationship to belle and sebastian. If you e-mail me, I promise I will put it on the site. There aren´t any stories up yet, because this is the first time I´m.. well.. promoting it, or how I shall put it. Today, I´m going to Skansen, a really nice like.. zoo, but I´m not going there to watch monkeys and stuff. No, on tuesday evenings there´s this live show from a really old scene that they have there. Allsång på Skansen, it´s called, which is like "Singalong at Skansen". A real "swedish old man" sings swedish folk song´s and the audience sing along. Ít was a big fuss a while ago, cause Ricky Martin was one of the guests for the show. Ricky Martin, pffft! Anyway, tonight, one of my favourite favourite favourite swedish aritsts, Håkan Hellström is going to be there, and I just have to watch it. Last week, on thursday the 26th, I was on a concert here in Stockholm and I got backstage, and I got to meet him. I was shaking, cause I was so nervous. He was so sweet and kind and.. aaah.. I went to a party last night at my friend Leo´s house. He had invited just really cool people that I felt nervous being around. I got a bit bullies for loving belle and sebastian. hi, i am at work just now. it's ok. bit boring though. no calls coming through. want to go home early again. no chance of that though. i had a nice weekend. went home. saw my mum and dad and everyone, my sis looks all grown up and my brother has reached the age where talking to his sisters is and embarassment he doesn't need. so he stays on the computer all day. lovely paul came up with me too. he is a darling. and you know what? he's my bestest bestest friend too, as well as being The Boyfriend. which makes me happy. my grandpa hasn't been very well recently. it's his lungs aagin. i mean he's built like a brick outhouse and all that but he's still a bit sicky. :*( poor gramps. he'll be ok though, he always is. i've been dancing to b&s, bikini kill and sleater-kinney recently. i am a wee riot grrl really. the best s-k song is either "one more hour" or "the hot rock". the guy opposite me is singing smack my bitch up by the prodigy. deary me... ***************************** Obligatory Mention of Mr Chu ***************************** Ken Chu, Ken Chu, where are you?
