Hello Sinister.
So I'm in the Boston Public Library, with 6 minutes left on this terminal
before I get chucked off. Yes, it's not my usual habitat, but this isn't a
usual post - sorry Sinister, this is gonna have to be short.
I'm on holiday. Some of you may recall this fact from a previous post -
others may have guess it from the fact that I'm in the Boston Public
Library, and I'm a boy from London. So here's the point: We travel to
Chicago tonight, and will be there until 8th August, and then will be moving
on to Philadelphia until the 12th, then New York until the 17th, and then
Reykjavik from 18th to the 21st. If there's any Sinister people out there
who'd like to meet up with me and my charming mate James in any of the above
places at any of the above times, please drop me a mail - it'd be great to
meet up... (esp you, Maria from Finland - I deleted your email by accident,
sorry!).
Anyway, what say you, fair folk? Might be fun...
Sorry for the abbreviated post and lack of CONTENT.
Love,
Asm.x

It is true, what Sister Disco said. The programme was
on, today! I remembered just in time.
I found Murdoch to be a better interviewee, a much
better one, than most of those who appear on, or in,
this slot. He seemed more intelligent, or to have more
thoughts in his head on which to draw. He seemed, I
mean, to have something to say about music - this
music, that he asked them to play - and its
connections with (his) life.
The music was good also. I don't need to hear that
version of 'A New England' again, now, as against
once, when I had never heard it, but still, it is
good. He liked the fact that she wrote new verses.
Surprisingly, he didn't quite seem to know that Bragg
was involved in the rewrite, so that the cover was
not, I think, cheeky but authorized.
I was surprised how good the second track was. Julie
Driscoll sounded like she was going to be boring, but
actually she sounded like a 1960s Isobel Campbell,
with a singing voice, of some kind, singing a Murdoch
lyric, to a Belle and Sebastian soul-music backing. In
fact, forget the Campbell bit, a blue herring. She
sounded like Petula Clark singing with Belle &
Sebastian? Really, it was fine. I think Cousin
Clubnight has probably heard it all before, in the
Saracen Head.
I have found my old books for Advanced Dungeons and
Dragons. But don't fret, I am not going to play it
with you. I have found some DUNGEON FLOOR PLANS also.
They let you go on a boat, with added Realism. I am
going to tell Tom Ewing, an internet supremo, about it
all.
Ally 96 has started a band, with an electric guitar.
That's what I heard.

Well well...they came at last.
Hi all, after months of super-excitement leading up to
the show, I finally got to see them in Melbourne!
I am from Adelaide (in South Aus. for all you
non-aussies), so I made the trek with my girlfriend to
Melbourne.
It was well well worth it...
When we got to our hotel, which was just down the road
from the Palais Theatre where thay were performing, we
started chatting to the hotel-desk-guy (a respectable
title), and told him why we were there, the
conversation went something like this...*uhem*
Me: Why hello sir, may you be so kind as to check us
in?
Desk-dude: Yup
Me: By the way, we are here to see a super-dooper band
from Scotland tomorrow night.
Desk-dude: Would that be Belle and Sebastian?
Me: Why yes, how did you know? Huh!? How!!?
Desk-dude: Why Sir, it's just that they are all
staying in the hotel...
Me: *THUD!* (me hitting the floor)
------------------
Anyhow, it went something like that. But the important
thing was they were in the same hotel!! All plans were
immediately scrapped and the plan was to hang out in
the lobby for the next three days...well, i would have
but my girlfriend wasn't going to Melbourne and coming
back to Adelaide without shopping. So I figured I'd
run into them anyway.
Myself and a few friends all went in and bought a copy
of Catcher In The Rye and all signed it and wrote a
"how are you doing" kind of thing in the cover, in the
hope that I might run into Stuart. When I got back to
the hotel, I thought that maybe I could get Desk-dude
to call Stuart's room and ask him to come down, which
he let me do, and even gave me the phone while it was
ringing!! But he didn't answer, all hope was far from
lost!! As I was doing this in the lobby, Stuart walked
right behind me and was waiting at the elevator to go
up to his room. It was now or never...I built up all
my courage and went over to him.
Me: Excuse me Stuart?
Stuart: Mmm hmm.
Me: Umm..uhem..I...I was wondering if I could get an
autograph? (on a tigermilk record cover which i
carried around with me everywhere while in the hotel)
Stuart:Umm, sure, but I really need to take a pee
(laughs)
Anyhow, I ended up having a quick chat and getting an
autograph and a photo, it was wicked!!
To wrap up, as my hand is getting sore, throughout our
stay we bumped into Stuart three times, Chrissy G!
three times and Sarah once just after the concert. I
also had a 10-15 minute chat with Chris about the
band, how they met, why Isobel left, how good her
current work is etc.
If you have any questions or would like my autograph
(J/K, just e-mail me.
I hope all the Australian listees enjoyed their
concerts!!
Until next time. Have a good week everyone.
xxox Nathan
P.S - Colin, sorry sorry, tapes are in motion. Give me
another week.
PPs- Astrid, yes I am still at the same address. and HI!

Hi Sinisters,
This just appeared on the B&S News page:
"Stuart Murdoch will be selecting the "Tracks of My
Years" on BBC Radio 2 every morning for the week Aug
2nd - 6th. The feature is part of the Ken Bruce show,
although as Ken is on holiday, the show is being
presented by Stuart Maconie.
Guests on "Tracks of My Years" select two songs a day,
songs which were either inspirational or which
symbolise a special period in their life, then they
have a wee chat explaining why they chose them.
The Ken Bruce is on between 9.30am and twelve noon.
The "Tracks of My Years" feature is "usually" on at
around 10.30am I believe."
Tailormade for The Pinefox, especially following the
revelation that our Struan is also a big Lloyd Cole
fan. What's the betting on Felt, Chicago & Andrew Gold
making an appearance amongst the artists chosen?
Sadly I shall be on my annual hols next week, so would
anyone like to record these spots for me, please?
Thanks,
Love
David
