My naughty pooter just deleted this lovely long message that I spent the
best part of my after dinner contemplation and digestion time writing so
I'm going to have to do it again, poo!
Hello kittens,
What a lovely week I've had, excluding 9am lectures which I've had
everyday and having to remove the brain from my cadaver(they're heavier
than you think).
My wednesday was spent striking, well I went skiing at
cairngorm, but I made a point of telling the bloke I shared a chairlift
with on the way up that i was on strike coz of "fees n' that", which was
fun appart from nearly killing everyone in the car a couple of times and
getting stuck on a very small road behind some very large cows, they are
scary close up.
There was lots of lovely snow, but no foxes unfortunately, allthough foxes
have been in my bad books ever since one killed my pet rabit Rambo.
Which brings me on to porno names, mine would be Colin Smith , which is
shite, I had several fish when I was wee all of which were called Colin,
only from the second, Colin 2, they were numbered sequentially up to about
6.The best i can come up with is Herbie Smith aftermy first gerbil.
Ahh Doric, What a beautiful language , Quine= girl, loon=boy, couthy auld
wifie=old woman who stands at bus stop and offers you sweets. I love
aberdeen.
love Colin.

>"the streets of london" by "whistling" Roger Whittaker i believe...
No no no :-) Roger Whittaker had a hit with the far more cred "Durham Town"
which has more cred being more grim and in the Norrth. He also had the
smurfs connection, which was far cooler than the distinctly uncred "Alphabet
Zoo".
Incidentally anyone particularly wanting some sort of 'picnic', let's call
it a 'Scots picnic' shall we, can mail me if they like and we'll sort it out
some time soon, for when it's a bit warmer really, we could go and do the
Arthur's seat sunrise thingy if anyone fancies it.
I know David's only allowed me the authority to ask people out in the in
Edinburgh area... but I figure it'd be silly given that Glasgow's like next
door, so anyone from Glasgow fancying a bit of a do sometime in the Summer
is more than welcome to mail me too. As is anyone else... in the world in
fact as long as you can make it to Edinburgh some time in the summer. That
means all the Chorlton posse will have to wheel on up to Edinburgh. The
longest day might make a suitable time., or at least the nearest weekend to.
The Duke would be proud,
Keith.

Being from Texas (gasp!), I'm only a recent convert to the joys of Belle and
Sebastian (forgive my gaffe at asking if there were any Nick Drake fans on
this list, uh-DUH)... And on a recent jaunt to NYC (where I stayed at the
Parker Meridien, mind you, searching for remnants of B&S last visit), I went
a-hunting for the EPs. Those of you visiting NYC in the near future may want
to check out Kim's on St Marks Place, a lovely store with oodles of vinyl and
great video selection. Personally, I found the EPs at Other Music in the East
Village (with one exception, Lazy Line Painter Jane, which I found at the
Virgin Megastore in Times Square).
Ah, the joys of the big city.
No one I know in Texas has the slightest inkling of who or what is Belle and
Sebastian, not that I'm any more informed. But could someone riddle me this:
What is the Tigermilk story?
And secondly, are there any plans for B&S to tour the states?
Thank ye-
Al

Please King Fame Throwa tell me which bit of Run is supposed to sound
lke leaving on a jet plane. I'm intrigued! I'm a big fan of New Order and
also like the various spin off group it has spawned. I've been singing Run
all day trying to figure it out!

That's a cracker Adrian, I tend to say this quite often in the pub when
people disagree ("We've got a difference of opinion Jeffrey") but no-one
*ever* gets it, which is sad. It's been quite a day for pointless trivia
hasn't it, I suspect that's because it's Friday again, cool and I'm not even
going to drink tonight, cause we're going shopping tomorrow with the one and
only, let's have a hand for Mr. Tim Hopkins!
I'm sure we'll post a full and detailed report on the shopping trip on
Monday.
Cheers,
Keith.

Salut pornstars
Don't many sex-oscar winners have names like failed pop stars? Anyway,
it has to be quite an option (workwise) for hasbeens & neverhasbeens
of the music world. There's the common thread of wanton debauchery for
starters.
And in physical appearance, I'd like to nominate David 'big in me
pants' Essex for the job. You'd just need to add a droopy moustache.
I only mentioned the permed & perfumed 'Stardust' cockney, though,
since I'm wondering if anyone else was pissed in the pub around the
Christmas holiday & heard 'A Winter's Tale' on the jukey. Perhaps it
was the Christmas ale, but the form & melody reminded me strongly of
the Tigermilk wonder: Mary Jo. Now. I've said it.
love & feathers
-Rod. er, I mean Pug Prizeman.

Take note that "Solid Air" is the song Martyn wrote for/about Nick Drake, who

Any Nick Drake fans on the Sinisterlist?

Thankyou Keith, you are indeed a credit to Public Service Broadcasts.
The song is wonderful, and I think if you were to be a one-hit wonder then this would have to be the one. I'm glad I haven't heard the latter version.

Three responses, what wonderful people we are !!!
I'll have to check out the New Order link tonight, didn't they lose every court case they were involved in !!! I think they must have used the subtle Peter Hook as a solicitor or summat !!
I remember the John Denver one now as it was the cause of countless sick jokes following his sad departure from this mortal coil.
I'm surprised there aren't more New Ordery people on this list. Obviously these days one has to view them in a different light, but I can't get over the similarities I draw between them and the Belles and the Sebastians. Maybe it is because I was 13 when I started listening to NO and I haven't really felt that way about a band until BS. They just instil that feeling of youth and happiness underlined by the bands obvious carefree attitudes.

Roger Whittaker eh ? Durham Town.......smashing !!
You admit what you like Rob, we have no shame round here.

Do we have to talk about band members sexuality. It's really none of our
business.
Especially when people are just blindly speculating. I wouldn't like people
discussing this sort of thing about me without my permission.
Why is it of so much interest anyway?

Surely on this basis, we should all meet up in Manchester, play games badly for two days, go away again and then not do a bloody thing for six months.
(This is Bitchy ;-o ).
Sounds good to me.
On the picnic front, I think there should at least be 11 Scottish representatives, so that we can have a forerunner to the England/Scotland World Cup Final that Rod Bigboy mentioned some weeks ago.
(This is Far too optimistic :->)

PS. HoneyPaul - Is David effectively banned from the list for not using Porn name ?
