Only for those who are so lazy that it takes them three days to get
out of bed. 4th May may be the bank holiday but 1st May is my
birthday and will always be the real May Day in my eyes <cries over
the lack of romance in bank holiday administration>
But really I say YAY and skip around like a moron attracting the

This is all too much. It's picnic heaven. And all so organised. I
have no preference - which day will be sunnier?
> Other picnics will be organised as we progress into summer.
Stop, it's too much for a young boy with a heart murmur.

organised, we'll meet at 2pm at Camden Town Tube Station.
Hmm... back down to earth. I've always found Camden Town Tube Station
is a very depressing place to meet people. The only people I ever
meet there are drunks who take all my cigarettes.

Surely we need to be better co-ordinated than this, Katrina. What if
everyone turns up with Swingball? Or we end up with nothing but
Dandelion and Burdock to drink? Or endless packets of barbeque beef
crisps? We'll all be sick. Also, we need to ensure a wide selection
of ironic senses of humour is brought, or else we'll all be telling
the same jokes all day.

Yes yes YES.

Hello popkids! I'm probably really late replying to this but Me Me Me
were a very short-lived band (thank god) consisting of the drummer from
elastica, the bassist from Blur, Stephen 'tin tin' Duffy and some other
bloke. Yes that song (Hanging Around) was catchy, but it was like all
the cheesiest bits of Olde Englande model Blur in one track.
Which is a hanging offence around these parts.
until next time, beefcake BEEFCAKE BEEEEEEEEEEEEFFFFCAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!

Picnics on Primrose Hill!!??!!
Bit far south for me, kids...(as usual)
How about regional ones too? I would love one to be held in Edinburgh.
Arthur's Seat? Prince's St. Gardens? Any other suggestions...(seen as B&S
are Scottish an' all)
I'm up for it if you all are...(onlt maybe not if I've got my CSYS English
exam the next day- could be a problem!)
love and alcoholidays,

>>Erm, we do write in English over here. By 'Scottish' you mean Gaelic,
no? Or did you think it should be written in a charming Glaswegian
accent? :o)
A Scottish (Glasgwegian, in fact) friend of mine insists that there is a
Scottish language - not Gaelic, but SCOTTISH. He said it is hundreds of
years old and virtually extinct, although he was involved in a society
of some sort dedicated to resurrecting it... we were looking at
something re: this on the Internet once cos he was trynna prove to me
what he was saying wasn't a load of crap.... tho since no-one on the
list has said anything to this effect, now I'm beginning to wonder!

I do, for what it's worth:-)
yeah I'm bawrin' I know

OK, I always heard, as others have stated, that it's your middle name and the street you grew up on - making me Merrily Bayberry. (I know a Gerard Hollywood and an Andrew Hitchingpost and a Lawrence Robinwood by this formula - brilliant)
If it's middle name and teddy bear's name (though I had a stuffed cat), mine's Merrily Raunchy.
Oddly, if you take your middle name and your mother's maiden name, that makes me Merrily Stewart - which is my mother's name, and I don't know what to make of that equation!
Wow - does anyone really care? Probably not, but I have no boss in the office today, so I'm bored and passing time.
Nasty!

what a delight to wake up to this post. i was eating my breakfast as i
perused my email this morning, and i almost spewed a slurry of
half-masticated total raisin bran and milk all over the keyboard and
monitor of my new computer. despite my unmitigated delight, i do feel
compelled to offer a slight correction/modification to all of this
name-game zaniness...
That bloke Rod Begbie wrote....

guy trebay of the new york times sunday magazine would beg to differ.
according to last sunday's issue (style column, p. 49), porn star names are
conjugated by taking the name of your first pet and adding the name of the
street you grew up on. on the other hand, the version the list has been
playing, at least according to this article, is the drag-name game, because
i suppose you're supposed to imagine a drag queen when you combine your
first pet's name and your mother's maiden name. here's a funny bit from
that article:
An intellectual friend with a serious Eastern European handle
turned into Silky Diamond, a moniker suggestive of years spent
touring the Borscht Belt with a feathered fan. Friedman, who
is by her own description "a little 66-year-old lady," was
transformed into the incomparably earthy-ethereal Pumpkin
Wander. My own drag name happens to be Happy Foster, an
alias that for me conjures up a semialcoholic field-hockey
captain out of "Butterfield 8."
anyway, this porn/drag distinction is a minor quibble, but if nothing else
it gives us twice as much pseudonym fun.
not to be daunted by the most gigantic words in the dictionary,
.erik

drag: chelsea johnson)

The saintly Keith also recently furnished me with a copy of "Solid Air",
which is very nice indeed. In fact I had a copy of John Martyn Live At Leeds
in my mits this afternoon, but balked at the price and distinct lack of
previously unreleasable material. I came home empty handed, just in time for
the Bobby Chariot Memorial Hayride. Proceedings were enlivened by Tag's,
whoops, I mean Don Estelle's, maniac Starsky and Hutch drive home, and Linda
and Keith's remarkable display of Dad's Army minor character knowledge. Not
to mention a very nice photograph distributed by Susannah. Thanks, Susannah,
I collect things like that!
Next week's fatty fun proceedings will be hosted by Spudgun out of BBC TV's
"Bottom".
The even saintlier Mussadiq equipped me with a tape of that Peanuts music.
It's very nice listening, quite relaxing. Just the ticket for an afternoon's
punting, but I don't really see the B&s similarity. While we're on the
subject, a big hearty slap on the back for all my tape swapping chums. I've
been introduced to some very pleasant music, from the lovely Will Oldham to
the equally desireable Yes. I'm only sorry I haven't got anything very
exciting to send in return. I sent off my Duke Box Dury tape, and now I'm
worrying about what to do for Matt....problems problems.

On Thurs, 5 March, Mark Hester wanted to know about cackish 'indie
supergroup' Me Me Me;
I think the song was called 'Hanging Around' (or 'Anging Around as it was
probably pronounced) and it featured Alex James, Stephen Duffy,
Justin-Elastica-drummer-bloke and some other guy out of a band noone had
heard of at the time (or has done since- good career move then...)
It wasn't done for charity or anything like that, it was something to do
with a Damian Hirst exhibition if I remember correctly. It was a one off
single. Shame. To use the words 'Brit' and 'Pop' in the same sentence would
be a vast understatement. Not inherently evil like Billy Ocean Colour
Scene, Cast or Satan's own pub band, Kula Shaker, But vaguely irritating
after hearing it more than half a dozen times in a day...
Hope this helps a bit, for whatever reason you needed to know,
love and other indoor sports,
Debbie xxx
