OK, here is another B&S dream related thing!
Last week I had a dream where I was casually looking through a copy of
the sun, and they had a top 20 albums poll and Tigermilk was no.1. Could
someone please tell me what the frount cover looks like, I don't know.
In my dream it was a black pattern on red, and may have looked a bit
like the cover of 'Gold Against The Soul'. Ok Bye.

Heeeheehhaaahaaa! That reminds me of being at someone's flat a ton of years
ago, listening to The Jesus & Mary Chain...and someone saying "they have
Southern accents...are they from Texas or something?" And my mate Ginny
saying "no dumbass...they're from Scotland." And the person saying "what
language do they speak in Scotland?"
riot.

Erm, we do write in English over here. By 'Scottish' you mean
Gaelic, no? Or did you think it should be written in a charming
Glaswegian accent? :o)

Maybe the NME could send along Mr Wells again so everyone could pelt
him with picnic stuff (or just kick the crap out of him). Then he could
write about how "punk" the whole event was.

My copy of Telstar (b/w "Jungle Fever"!) came out in 1962, which would have
made me 6 years old at the time.
Do I win a prize?
For me, this is one of the added attractions of listening to B & S. Not
only do you get brilliant tunes, superb musicianship,
witty/weird/cute/moving lyrics ( delete as applicable) but you also get
snatches from all the things that the band members have listened to whilst
growing up. As well as all the usual influences mentioned, like Nick Drake,
Love, Donovan, Dylan, etc. I can also hear The Incredible String Band, and
believe it or not, Yes.
At my age I also get to dance round the room to String Bean Jean with my 12
year old son and to really enjoy B & S gigs with my 19 year old daughter.
Keep the faith

Cherry Red Records re-issued in 1992 "The Strange Idols Pattern And Other Short Stories", originally released in 1984, produced by John Leckie (producer of almost everything The Stone Roses recorded)+ 1985's "Ignite The Seven Cannons" (which was produced by Cocteau Twin Robin Guthrie and includes the famous 'Primitive Painters', sang with the help of other twin Liz Fraser [what a coincidence]. As for the place you could find it (I forgot to tell you that both albums were re-packaged as one) I wouldn't dare saying that mine was found at a creepy store in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, lost among The Dream Academy and The Waterboy's gems (I bought them all. Expensive ? Oh, no, no, just picture that "Made in England" seal)
As far as I know, and have seen on The Felt and Denim Homepage (http://www.jeigh.com.felt) there are 3 Felt compilations:
Bubblegum Perfume (Creation 1990);
Absolute Classic Masterpieces (Cherry Red 1992);
Absolute Classic Masterpieces Volume II (Creation 1992), not to mention
The Felt Box Set (Cherry Red Records 1993- 4 cds)
Hope I've helped a bit.
Adios,
Jh

In a message dated 3/4/98 6:05:58PM, you write:
<< Thought you'd all like to know that the wonderful Mr Coupland's forthcoming
novel is called Girlfriend in a Coma.
That's about as cool as Donna Tartt's new book being called String Bean
Jean. >>
Or Paul Auster's next novel going under the title of You Made Me Forget My
Dreams.
NB - I'm posting the full '80s quiz answers tomorrow. Thanks for all your
help, and apologies to Monsieur Mitchell for list cluttery - I has assumed any
answers would be mailed direct to my good self. Hey-ho, and such is life.
