hullo boys and girls,
i was just reading an article about two ladies who find music for movies...
bascially, they get to read the script to movies and try and fit certain
songs for certain scenes etc...
so, it got me thinking...if you were to put a soundtrack together to
represent your short or long life...which 12 songs would you put on it? i
know it's quite hard to put 12 songs to your life..no hard thinking
required, whatever comes to your mind is fine...to make it, belle and
sebastian-like, try and incorporate as many b&s songs into your soundtrack!
here is michi's soundtrack: (in no particular order) i wrote some of the
lyrics down to reflect on the life that i've lead...(quite sad one that is..)
1-) put the book back on the shelf: belle and sebastian: you came to dance,
but there's no poignancy when they all leave you standing alone...
2-)mary jo, belle and sebastian: life is never dull in your dreams....
3-)boy(girl) done wrong again: hang your head in shame and cry your life
away,
what is it i must do to pay for all my crimes?
4-)get me away from here, i'm dying: the title is self-explanatory.
5-)hawaiian baby: spinanes: it's my heart but it doesn't fit yours...(always
happens to me, can't reciprocate my feelings back to whomever is madly in
love with me...am i too picky?)
6-)corcovado: astrud gilberto: i was lost and lonely, believing life was
only a bitter tragic joke i found with you..the meaning of existence....
7-)preciso decir que te amo: bebel gilberto and cazuza: to lose or to win,
with
no chances, i must say i love you.
8-)refractions in the plastic pulse: stereolab: i need someone intoxicating
and strong..
9-)inner city life: goldie, big city lover: dj krush. (i've always been
suited
for city life. although, it is quite impossible to live that way in a
suburban pink utopia.)
10-)i miss you: bjork: i miss you but i haven't met you yet...
11-)ask: the smiths: shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life
you'd like to...(i'm incredibly shy.)
12-)good cop, bad cop: everything but the girl: i know it's wrong to feel
this
way, i know it's wrong i know it's bad, to only see what isn't there, to want
and want and never have, but you know there's more to me now don't you?
you'll always cover for me, won't you?

Hey, are there any tape traders who are on the list who have some B&S
live shows, videos, or can tape Tiger Milk for trade? 'Mail me back at
Greggo(a)foxinc.com.
Do anyone know anything about a band called Radio Sweethearts? I
believe they're from Scotland.
Did any Americans who are on the list tape the B&S performance on
Sessions at West 54th?
All the Best

hello all:
i promise this post will have at least 1 smidge of B&S content.
to vouch for what kim so sweetly told us:
" I have a hydroencephalic (sp?) mouse that could make a good b&s
mascot, though he's slightly retarded - but still darn cute!"
big head todd would make a great mascot cos he loves oranges and is a
cutie pie. i even touched him. (ooer)
fav. b&s mo:
in "my wandering days are over" it's sung "my bip bopping days are over"
doesn't it sound like "my pill popping days are over" ? (ah well ...
must be the overwhelming amounts of chloroform that have affected my
mind)
over & out,
-thaian (stinky monchichi)

Yes yes they had a minor "hit" with a far less annoying tune way before
that - here in america anyway - "That's just the way it is baby".
URRRGH that Friends theme is one of the worst ever!!!
It sounds like a Rutles cover band to me. or something.
>>And does anyone still remember who sang "Breakfast At Tiffany's"?
Into
the "Where Are They Now?" file, so young!
That would be Deep Blue Something (or more appropriately Deep Brown
Something, har har) and they are relegated to the "Where are they now?"
history bin with good reason. They were crap.
>>What's he up to these days? Last I heard, he OD'd on heroine at The
Viper
Rooms, just like Johnny Depp.
NO NO NO darling you've got it all wrong!! Johnny Depp owns the club,
'twas River Phoenix who OD'd. Ah River was so lovely, I had such a
crush on him. The way he was so into animal rights and whatnot.....Then
when he overdosed, people were like, "What? He couldn't have done drugs,
he was a vegetarian!" like that makes a difference or something.
I met this boy on New Years Eve, who looked just like River circa "Stand
By Me" only the boy was from iceland, which made him slightly cooler.
And the fact that he wasn't dead like River made him more appealing
too......
I'm sorry for all these corrections and stuff, I hate that I'm so picky
but can't help it... did anybody ever read "Sassy" a few years back? one
of their glossary terms was "smitty" : someone really anal who is always
correcting others etc.
I guess that's me, eek!
Talking about cheesy shows like "BH90210" ... I guess I can admit to a
"Party of Five" addiction. Does anybody else notice that, with her new
haircut, Claudia looks exactly like Bernard Butler?!!?!
anyway here's some belle content.
One of my favorite lines goes something like "the only thing keeping me
here til spring is the promise of happiness in a certain person"(?)
The NME has something about "B&S being far too boring" to be part of a
Europop revival, in an article on that "Barbie girl" band. What's their
damage?? Such pointless slagging....
anyway there's the end of my pointless missive....
"tonight, matthew, I will be Mariah Carey"

Sorry if this is a bit old, but having ploughed through 200 e-mails I'm
going to have my say. (sorry!)
I wrote to Belle and Sebastian a while ago, and I sent them a picture of 3
year old me (Sebastian) with my doggie of the time (Belle). I didn't hear
anyting though. Oh dear, I hope they didn't take the piss. Katrina, did you
see it? I sent it to Jeepster,I thought it was very sweet.
I wrote a poem to Henry Kelly too once, but he never answered; oh well, it's a
busy life, I s'pose.

The other day I was walking home, listening to Tigermilk, and a bus came, but
I wanted to sing along so much that I let it go and walked for two miles
instead.
Which was really stupid I suppose, but Belle and Sebastian just make me do
that sort of thing. They make me smile a lot at strangers too. Hooray!
B&S- Prozac for the ears, or something.

Hello Sinisterines/Sinisterettes....
may i say how lovely it was to talk to Lisa on chat today! She called me
the Sarah who always posts. I don't know why, I just have this
compulsive urge to write stuff to a load of strangers oh lord am I
really that bad??? heck!
I *do* have a point, I've jut forgotten it. Oh yes. The Rod Stuart
Debate. That reminds me. Los Manicos covered a song called 'Stay With
Me'. its really cheesey power rock stuuf, ace to sing when drunk and
really hilarious.
After singing it very loudly round Preston, to my intense shame and
horror (also explaining my shaved head) I looked up who first did that
song on the 'net and it was only....
Rod 'do you want my body, don't you know I'm SIXTY!!!' Stuart!!!!!!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I hope at least you wouldn't catch Belle and Sebastian catching me out
with something like that, I'm sure their covers would only be of the
exqisite taste! Like the ambassadors reception perhaps!!!!! maybe. ok
then.
Adios mis amigos!!!!!

on 09 Feb 98, Paul Blackwell wrote a load of really dull shite about Northy and
a homeless man, then went on to say:
This is not a personal attack on Northy, I am just
>letting you all know the truth.
>As North will be gone from the list for a while, you will have to make to
with me. I am less controversial but also live in Ashford which makes me a
perfect Northy substitute.
For Fucks sake I do NOT want to listen to crap like this!! If your posts are
going to continue in this vein then stay off the bloody list OK?
A rather tormented susannah.
oh, and what I really wanted to say was this:
I have been pondering over the mailing list questions to B&S and come up with a
couple I REALLY want to ask
Chris geddes:
At Manchester you were puking in a bucket under your keyboard, were there any
carrots?
Stuart Murdoch:
Did the bad reviews of the Manchester gigs affect you?
The music press all seem desperate to give you a good slagging. I am too.
On a scale of one to ten, I'd give you one.
Stuart David:
If Bill Clinton can do it , you can too, You know where to find me.
No questions to Isobel or Sarah due to female jealousy OK?
And this ones to all of them:
Which band member would you most like to punch?
Lastly, the bastards at York Excel photos have officially lost my Manchester gig
snaps
and here's where you come in bell-end sebastian fans.
To enable the location of my photos I have to describe what was on them i.e. the
band...
I have to state : Sex, Age, whether In or Out (Stuart???), , What is the person
wearing and what is the person doing. I have to also describe 'any scars,
birthmarks, jewellery, costumes and their hair (colour, texture, braided,
ponytail, greying, balding, moustache, beard) '
So, come on kids!! Most apt and original description wins a prize! No Felt LPs
but Do have a spare copy of 'Obsession' by Animotion I can spare.
Susannah.
