Hi everyone! This must be an unusual request on this list, but can anyone tell me the names of the band?!!! (I'm one of these bandwagon-jumping "new" fans who doesn't even own Tigermilk!) And I've never seen their names on any of the records...I know about Stuart Murdoch, Stevie Jackson on guitar and Stuart David, but could anyone fill me in on who the rest of them are? Hello hello mes amies! Good news all around, lookie here in the new San Francisco Bay Guardian on page 23 in Johnny Ray Huston's "Out Loud" column!!!! oooh it's BELLE AND SEBASTIAN! whoo hooo Alas more critical praise for our lads and lassies, "IYFS" in particular! I think I like this man Johnny Ray. He makes the "Seeing other People"/ "Peanuts" comparison too, and remarks on "fox in the snow" as a particular favorite. If somebody doesn't beat me to it, I shall very soon copy the article for anyone unfortunate enough to not live in the bay area to read it....But right now am too busy at work... They have a website tho, http://www.sfbg.com, so maybe it will appear there. I just got back from a smashing time in London and I loved it so thanks for asking. Did I tell you I went to this lil club, it was on Berwick Street on Saturday and they played "Like Dylan in the movies"?? I know I couldn't believe it myself. England was so much fun. I went to loads of clubs and shops and restaurants and saw all kinds of interesting things.... hmm I got my photo taken with Ian Brown, I did! I saw various "EastEnders" people and Paul Weller came into my restaurant one night for dinner with his family. Oh I saw Tamara Beckwith too one night, she looked like a ho and I told her so but she just ignored me. she makes me sick. BTW this may be old news, but the whole adoring Catatonia thing - I don't get it. "Mulder and Scully" is complete rubbish. They are at best average, this is only me opinion girls and boys, so please don't deluge me with e-mail trying to convince me of the contrary. I think Rod's made some splendid records over the years - Rod's biggest fault I'd have said is his inability to notice the fact that many of the songs he wrote/co-wrote are better than the dross he chooses to cover so often. "Every picture tells a story" is a lovely album, although there's never really been an album to match that (you'll excuse me if I can't comment on his eighties offerings), but I'd say even through the years he's had a load of good singles, "The killing of Georgie" is dead, as is "I was only joking" which for Rod the lad who shags the blonds is quite an admission of insecurity. I am the only person I've met so far who can see shades of "Do you think I'm sexy" in the intro to the Roses "I wanna be adored". And there's even numerous good singles throughout the 80's. He put out some very good music at a young age and threw away all critical acclaim to climb on board the disco/power ballad wagon somewhere in the late seventies. I hear you all mentioning it all the time and I can hear you all scroning me for not knowing - "What is Tigermilk!, How dare he associate himself with Belle & Sebastian without knowing ". I am, however, fairly new on the B&S scene and all I have heard so far is "If your'e feeling sinister" and I know nothing. So plase don't turn your back on me for this and remember no one was born with the knowledge. Any other recommendations would also be apreciated. tata, Huw

It's a record. B+S recorded their first album in the middle of 1996, it's great, but they only made 1000 of them cause it was released on Alan Rankine's little label that's set up for Stow College in Glasgow (at least - that's the way I understand it).
