Sinister: london meetup?

My dear sinister and sinistrines Only ONE day to the sommetset house, wow! Know it is quite a bit of a short notice, but it looks like a lot of us are going to the *respect* festival in Victoria park in the afternoon. hence why not having pic-nic in the there and attend at big-brovaz (?) at teh same time? well, let's take the big brovaz bit away.... actually victoria park quite nice, and it close enough to the tube station and the bus stop so that we can get aftrwards to the strand in reasonable short time. Since I imagine there is goiung to be a bit of mess at !*\m/respect\m/*!, if you fancy meeting up, I was thinking we can meet : OUTISE *MILE END* TUBE STATION (central, hammermisth, and disctric line, a bit of choise!) at 2:00 PM. It is quite funny because I work over there, will probbaly feel as I am buggering out of the lab to join a sinister picnic, which sound as amusing! As Mark H. mentioned in his post miss Katarina Foxtail of sillustation fame is in london for the occasion, and she will probably be at How does it feel tonight, and surely at the gig and possible picnic tomorrow... come and say hello to here! and there was people asking if there was something to go dancing after the GIG. Indeed, there is a rather lovely club at the buffalo bar, just outside Highbury and islingtnon stop on the victoria line, which is called cut and paste. I'm sorry. Imagine the horror when I found out. THE HORROR!! My mum told me to dig up every last spud, even the tiny ones, but I never did. Apparently, leaving them in the ground through the winter makes them go funny. She always told me to wear an anorak on days like today, too, but i never listen. Instead I just sat in the kitchen, looking at the freshly dug soil and thinking of all those wonderful treats I could cook up with my spuds, and thinking what a clever fellow I'd been. I should have known better. This summer, the garden has been overtaken by mutant zombie potato plants, which have risen from the dead. And it's raining outside and I've only got a cardigan to wear... I shall do my best to fight against racism on Saturday, although it is possible I shall simply get lost. I shall hopefully see Mark on SUNDAY, though, but I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to the pub. Why is no one going on Sunday, that's what I want to know. You losers. Hey sinisters, Yo! Long time no sushi! Yo sushi! My TV's made by Mitsubishi. I haven't had a sushi for a long time and I'm hungry for it. Fun fact: No Belle and Sebastian song has ever mentioned sushi. The closest we got to is "I saw you in a Japanese restaurant", when Stuart sang about how Belle once worked at this tiny japanese restaurant and she had to make temaki sushi for businessmen on a piano because there's so little room. Hello Sinister, I love you so, and I’m sorry I don’t write often, but I have occasion to now. I wrote this for you on tuesday night, but my internet server has been down, so I’ll send it out now. First things first, I just got back from a rainy concert in central park in NYC, Guster, Ben Folds, and Rufus Wainwright. That in itself isn’t really sinister material, but I’m getting there, be patient! Anyway, Guster were closing, which was kind of a bummer, because they’re my least favorite of the three, but after their mediocre set, they came back for the encore with Ben Folds and break into a song. But it wasn’t just any song, oh no, it was The Boy With The Arab Strap. I was stunned and it was pretty amazing. A nice night for all. Second things second. It’s now official, I’m skipping over my senior year in high school and going directly to University of Glasgow. The thing is I’ve only been to Scotland once in my life, to visit schools, and so the only people in Glasgow that I’ve met are a beautiful admissions rep at the University and Stuart from the Belles. Needless to say, as I’ve only turned seventeen yesterday, I’m going to be young and lonesome. So if anyone feels like being my friend and helping me out, I would really like it. You’re all beautiful people and though I don’t write very much (one time previously to my knowledge, after meeting Stuart) I read each and every post that comes my way and I have a fairly big crush on all of you. Hello! Lots of people seem to be going to the Saturday gig, but for those of you going on the Sunday, I suggest that we meet up at 6 o'clock at the Lyceum pub, which is on the opposite side of the Strand from Somerset House. This is of course a great honour. I understand that she might be at How Does It Feel on Friday (cheers for the reminder, Ian) so I may get the opportunity to thank her in person. Sinister: Montreal and My Morning Jacket

Ok, so our eastern european jaunt ran into major problems so now we're headed to Montreal. If anyone on this list lives there, can you send me an e-mail? I have questions on happenings in the city. Now, I need to work on my frenchy. Has anyone heard of My Morning Jacket. I just got their lastest CD, it's really quite good -- I guess they belong in the Alt-country catalog to give you an idea of the sound. It's a mix of Johnny Cash, Americana, Luna/Galaxie 500 and in some places they sound like what little I know about Pink Floyd and Yes (longer songs that sound very different in some parts). Anyway, just wanted to share because I told a friend of mine about them (who's a big fan of Wilco, Uncle Tup, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, etc) and he immediately declared them his fave band once he bought their album and he's usually not easily impressed. Sinister: Have Mercy On The Girl Who Sings To Be Adored

Hey sinister! How ARE you my little darlings? It's been far too long since, well, the last time. Since the last time I have: - Been in London to visit my big sister and when at How Does It Feel managed to not say hi to both Paul Healy (who I stared at (er, sorry, not in creep way I hope) a lot that night) AND Ken Chu. - Turned 18! WOHOO!! I have since got my beloved Dl4 Delay Modeler, a great stompbox pedal from Line 6 which totally fucking rawks and is great. Great people who has it: One of the guitarists in Explosions In The Sky, Joel Shearer from Pedestrian and Wilco. - A couple of days ago me and Amanda went to Accelerator: the big one, which had such great artists performing as Wilco, The Shins, Explosions In The Sky, Broken Social Scene, Jens Lekman, HAL etc. etc. etc. Oh and The Von Bondies. The main events at that day (3 p.m. to 3 a.m.) 1. Amanda gets in. Big thing since she is a two years too young. And I am not, finally. 2. Explosions in the sky perform and afterwards I ramble something to them about their concerts being not mere concerts but it was an epiphany and so fucking beautiful etc. etc. 3. Wilco almost makes me cry because they are so great and Jeff Tweedy is amazing but then... 4. ... the inevitable happens: a drunk, humongous bearded wilco-fan emerges through the crowd and i start telling him insulting htings but he keeps saying WHAT until I give up and to get my message across just gives him the finger (Readers, if you knew how wild I felt, I mean, seriously, I'm a B&S fan, how wild is my life?). But then his other friend pulled my ponytail and the first guy started like trying to dance with me but i was angry and told him to sod off. 5. I got a WEE bit too drunk by the time of the Von Bondies and thought to myself: "Hell, I have a man and he can't see me now, I have no one to impress, I want to DANCE, ah yes, I have to DANCE, I will let the rawk and rawl possess me!!" and I danced like Paula Abdul was possessing me. Or well, not Paula Abdul, but I was behaving like a crazy drugged-out person having a seizure. Note to self: Let's do that again soon. V. much fun. 6. By dancing without dignity sadly attracted gut from Detroit who after the Von bondies came to hit on me, but I mentioned my boy and he moved on to Amanda. 7. Half an hour later: Amanda and Detroit-guy are making out. I am freaking out. 8. I want to go home. 9. We go home. 10. We see bus leaving, have to wait another hour for a new one. 11. Meets v. funny guy in suit. We talk about gross food for an hour. Yeah that was it. Must've been dead exciting for you guys to read about. Also my solo project is working out nicely, I'm called Good Scout Promise and my demo which is starting to be finished now is called "Unless Otherwise Stated" I think. Oh man, I think this was my worst post yet. If you think otherwise, do not remind me of other posts which are worse. Let's just forget together. Love Astrid Ps. I think I am starting to enjoy being me quite properly, it's nicer than I thought. I don't suck as much as I feared, which you must admit is a nice thing to realise. Pps.
