ahem.... first of all.let me be the first to say that soap operas interest me not in the least, and the same with snogging lunky boys in whatever capacity. boys are icky, let it be said. nothing personal, but this ahren fellow sounds like a bowl of grease. blech. the only boy in my heart is Stuart murdoch, aye right.
ironically as the gen-x topic was coming on, someone mentioned those abysmal 16 Candle's 1980's teenage films, all of which starred andrew mccarthy and molly ringwald, and all of which i ignored with the utmost conviction in my time, regardless of the begging of my peers to join in the whimsical fun. I think i am the only person of the ages 20-30 who was not enamored of those films, or at least i appear to be, every corner i turn someone is blithely singing the praises of Pretty in Pink. let me be the first to say, all those films were relentlessly crap, farcical, and cruel. they present us with the lie that once you reach the age of 16, your life will be filled with crazy hijinx, necking, boyfriends, proposals, dances, and teenage kix. that never happened to me. i was sitting alone in my room playing suede records over and over again, and fretting about why i was so attracted to Polly Harvey, and eavesdroppping on my younger sister's phone calls in which she accused me of being a lesbian(natch!). fanfare from dog on wheels, over and over again....i played for 8 years in school but i'mve been lazy about it the last couple years. it feels good i must say. i recommend everyone should learn a wind instrument, it teaches you breath control that can be almost meditative, you can release the energy of your prana and what not, and i think it also makes you better at singing. I forgot how much i loved playing it. thank you Mick cooke. it's funny when people who dont' play brass try to play one, like stuart blowing on that trumpet hehe, it always sounds like this: "BblllllEEAAAGHHHHGHGHGBBAAAGHGHGHHHHH!!!!" that is because brass

I also learned "Losing It" on guitar last night, tho i think the octave might need a bit of moving for me to sing it properly. not that i would recommend listening to me sing, though jess said that my voice was nice. (we sang an awful lot of Merritt-tunes together on our DC trip, not to mention "you're on top of the WOrld a GAIANN!!")
My new zine issue is gonna be out today, and it will have the requisite b/s content, such as a feature on my Pop star crush Isobel, but the mega belle-content is saved for the winter issue, a whole feature on the DC trip and its mythology and significance to the reconstruction of the disbanded soviet union and the problems of nascent capitalism and uh, stuff. wouldn't you know it, two days in a row, both BOTH copy shops in town had broken machines and couldn't do my copies!! i think they were conspiring against the subversive and titillating content i intend to foist upon an unwilling populace!!!
uh i had more stuff to say but i forgot, duh-HEE!!! me so silly. i'm wearing myklunky shoes today. they go well with a study at stow shirt, and some nice powder blue flares, and a long brown suede jacket.
