Hey, I had to come back really, cheers for the nice letters Peter especially... I was looking at the archive this morning and decided that I had to come back on cause in stark contrast to the Duke leaving because of comments made about the Lovin' Spoonful, I decided I had to join agaiin due to being in a tantrum about what people just said about Dexys.... Yes, Dexys did indeed have more than one song "Come on Eileen" they are a completely amazing band who made several records in the early eighties... indeed our beloved leader and spiritual guide Mr.Murdoch owns a Dexys single that isn't Come on Eileen. All their albums are completely excellent, including the brilliant "Don't Stand me Down" from 1985 if my specially modified pop brain serves me well. They did a cover of Van Morrison's "Jackie Wilson Said" and top of the pops put a great big picture of Jocky Wilson in the background (a big fat Scottish darts player). You can see a picture of this in http://www.tv.cream.org/arktop.htm under 1982 (There's also a picture of Limahl at the top). This site was put together with the help of our very own Rodddney Buggerbie apparently. Kevin Rowland was ace, didn't drink, didn't smoke... what did he do? Banned drink at gigs, played top tunes, none of those electric guitars, they're too noisy by far. I would say, as an entry point to Dexy's Midnight Runners, you'd be best starting with one of their records - preferably any of them. Anyway, enough helmet-related capers, it's my Birthday today and I've rejoined the list as a present to myself - and in tribute to the WHO. It's the only present I got, apart from a new hairbrush and a card which I will forever treasure, as it says "Shang a-lang" and has a picture of Les, Woody and Eric from the Bay City Rollers. Chris Geddes looks like Woody, as well as Robert Buchanan. I think B+S would do an excellent cover of Shang a-lang, after all they do the Left Banke's "I've got something on my mind" which is virtually the same tune anyway. Cheers for people coming along at New Year, it was a really good laugh, nice to see Mark again and to meet Vicky, seems like everyone had a laugh, cheers to Tag for the Neil Young video too, it's sent me in a spiral of listening loads to Neil Young. He does a great version of F:);-):-<in' Up on it, it's ace, and typically, all the songs take about 10 minutes to come to an end. Nobody really went into the proper detail as regards Mr.Leonard's antics over the New Year period. After having phone Honey from Anne's flat in Glasgow and we finally got through, Chris is shouting "By the way, I fancy your bird" loudly down the phone and then ran away going "Oh no, I've been chucked". Oon, I got your tape and lovely letter, I'll send you the Divine tape as soon as I get off my lazy arse. Cheers, Keith. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
