I think i just survived the winter. No, it hasn't officially ended, but I did wear normal shoes this week and not (grumble) boots. and the sun was actually warming (however briefly). but blah blah blah, BUT in two weeks I will be in London and it will be Spring! (well, it'd better be.) How exciting is this?! (for me?!) I've got about 30 million things to do before I get on that plane, but that will just make my London time even better (I'm hypothesizing...). There should be much: dancing, embibing, museum/gallery-going, wandering together and alone, window shopping and crying over the glory of shoes (my god, i cried inside today when i popped into my favorite shoe store to check out the new spring shoes - white slip-on campers with embroidered fushia flowers! i blinked back the tears of joy and pain. how is $268+15%tax at all fair or sane? beauty should be free or at least offered at a discount to worthy people. ah, but beauty is costly. stupid beauty.) but yeah, so here i am wrapped up in a blanket b/c we mistakenly turned our heat down, waiting for winter to end, thinking about whether to watch american idol tonight or whether to *not waste my time* (oh, you know i'll watch. i love it. both the wasting time and the watching painful tv. and tv has not been my friend these past two weeks - no new episdoes of the O.C. nor of Gilmore Girls. i'm still on my boycott-CSIs-and-Law&Orders-because-they-are-bad-for-my-mental-health stint, meaning the tv has been neglected because those shows take up half the weekly prime-time schedule, i swear. so the tv is like "please watch 'judging amy' or 'forever eden', pleeese." and i'm like "no. you bastard." and then we stare blankly at each other. eventually i leave.) oh oh, and will there be a Brighton Picnic/Day? Archel posted about this but then nothing and I have been too slack-ass with the emailing to have asked earlier. i should get on #sinister, i should. At this point i'd like to say "Sinister Picnic - Worldcup Germany 2006!" If that's too futurismic, then I hope to be seeing all kinds of "Sinister Picnic - New York/Toronto/Reykjavik/Idaho/Melbourne/etc." in the next couple months b/c, y'know, it's the season (even the s. hemisphere - fall picnics are quite nice.) I had to get a new passport. I think I look even more drunk in this photo. plus, it's in colour. eesh. speaking of drunk, i haven't been for months (2 months, in fact). i have been being responsible. and poor. brutal combination. we'll see how long that lasts. the new Destroyer album is good and includes my subject line and a lot of Dan Bejar making me want him even more. though not in real life. i heart the indie-pop stars of my fantasies. and would probably want to stab them in the eye in real life. or something with knives anyway. (hahaha - for the more sensitive among you, i would never stab anyone with anything. but i'm not making any promises.) i haven't bought the latest b&s eps/singles for the same reasons i haven't been drinking. i feel so behind. i even felt old for the first time at a Metric show a couple weeks ago.
