hi, i joined the list a little while ago and have kept quite until now... not sure what to say i guess and have been enjoying how pleasant all the e-mails have been. i just wanted to comment on the nick drake / tom waits thing. which i thought odd, my first post being non b&s. but when i first heard nick drake i didn't get it right away.. i don't think i was paying attention.. but then i went back to it and fell in love. for some reason many critics relate the newer slower artists to him and often times it's hard to hear the comparisons. but "cello song" is so wonderful and comes off of "Fives Leaves Left" so yeah i would agree with the recommendation for that album as well. uh... tom waits i love him, but not everyone likes his voice.. which on one hand i understand and on the other i never understood.. but that's people for you. i don't think i'd compare tom to nick but that's just me.... personally, even if it doesn't come through musically some of the lyrics in b&s music and spiritualized for that matter remind me heavily of t-rex... sigh. but i don't know if kids listen to marc bolan.. uh musically it's different but the slower stuff is just so good.... i hope this makes a little sense.. gotta go... breakfast with the beatles is on. hugs and kisses debbie +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
