silly query:
i didn't see much on this in the archive but what's the significance of dept. stores in b&s songs? i've counted three mentions debenhams, c&a and marks & spencer.
are there other mentions of stores - of any kind?
i've noticed this too; there's also been littlewoods (in pocketbook angel) and Rediffusion, in 'if you're feeling sinister' (still my #1 b&s track, i think!) can't think of any more.
There's Boots (in Lazy Line Painter Jane) and Safeway (in It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career), which makes 7. The boy Murdoch must have a supermarket obsession.
