It is a bit nasty, isn't it the way these big people insinuate that if B+S won it must be wrong, cos they couldn't possibly be good/popular enough!
Yes indeed it is, it's also a bit odd they thought that people who like Steps records (I guess we're talking 30-something clubbers, and perhaps disillusioned Brotherhood of Man fans perhaps) would go out of their way to vote for Steps. Am I wrong in saying that Steps' hit was a cover of the great Bee Gees "Tragedy"? Seems like in that case, shouldn't the best newcomer award go the Bee Gees? Oh, mind you, they won the Brits lifetime achievement award a year ago or so. I'm just disappointed by Pete Waterman's behaviour, I bet he'd like Belle and Sebastian if he gave them a proper listen. Still, he's getting a bit long in the tooth now anyway. I've almost given up hope that he'll ever be able to scale the heights of the mighty "Roadblock" again. Steps were a mistake too. I'm sure if he'd persevered with Pat and Mick that'd have beat Belle and Sebastian hands down. Cheers, Keith. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
