I'm afraid this is quite a flimsy message, but in its defence, it is high in content. I adore those moments in B an S songs when the vocals leave the melody and the Scottish accent is exposed. I am thinking of two moments in particular. My favourite example is in 'We Rule the School' and the line 'why did she do it, was she scared, was she *bored*?' There are also parts like this in Waiting for the Moon to Rise, such as the line 'and I'm trying *hard* to find...'. There are other bits like this but I can't quite remember where they are. (mental note: research posts better). Although I'm from Edinburgh, I have to admit that in the hands (or mouths I suppose) of B and S at least, the west coast accent is extremely beautiful. In Reply to Andy Flynn: I'm not sure if anyone really hates Isobel Campbell that much. In some ways I think she became a sort of bogey woman because every scene needs its Nasty Nick figure (a la Big Brother). Having said that, there is a sober school of thought that says her musical contributions to B and S are 'intrusions' and spoil the organic wholeness of the (earlier) albums: i.e she should stick to her other little projects. (I agree with this, though I think when she contributes to a duet she is absolutely excellent and integral to the B and S sound: but I also think she looks a bit 'fishy' in photographs and is possibly quite a manipulative person, whereas Stuart looks like a good, honest, wholesome gentleman who should not be mixing with that sort! - let alone recording songs with them...)
