Michele, you can't claim to not talk about fight club because then you are calling attention to the fact that you are talking about fight club. :) Just busting chops to start this message. Anyway, I made this killer tape for our darling Marie Elia. It was originally supposed to be a best of Rose Melberg (of Tiger Trap, Softies, Go Sailor, etc. fame) tape, but then dear Ree went and got a copy of the brilliant It's Love by the softies and a major portion of the tape was eliminated. So I asked if she would like a rose and friends tape, thinking i'd throw some henry's dress and rocketship on there, when it hit me--I'd make a six degrees of rose melberg tape! It's kind of like that six degrees of kevin bacon game. Who has acted with who so that you can get to kevin bacon in 6 movies or less? So I did the same with rose, since she's played with a ton of people. Let me give you an example--Rose played with Heather Dunn in Tiger Trap, who played with lois Maffeo in Lois, who played in Tommy with Carrie Brownstein, who is in Sleater-Kinney. My dilemma? I'm trying to figure out a way to like Rose to Belle and Sebastian this way, and I don't think it is very possible. Rose has been around a bit, musically speaking, and I knwo that B & S members have collaborated with others, but how do you bridge the ocean? If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Anyway, I'll leave you now with the most famous person in the 6 degrees of rose game--Rose was in Tiger Trap with Heather Dunn who is in the Dub Narcotic Sound System with Calvin Johnson who played with BECK Hanson.
