Ahh, great subject lines from the past... On Thu, 9 Jul 1998, Perfection As A Hipster wrote:
Welly well, the above lines make me wonder whether the writer has even heard the Looper 7" himself (no, having heard the forthcoming B&S album would be cheating) ... seeing that the flipside entitled "Spaceboy Dream #3" is a(nother) version of "Spaceboy Dream #2" from the forthcoming album I'd humbly suggest that the considerations at issue are not necessarily unfounded, unless you view Belle And Sebastian as the sole baby of Stuart Murdoch ... keeping in mind former disgressions such as "Electronic Renaissance" or ear witnesses who mentioned <gasp> "clean" production.
Well unfortunately I can't claim to have heard the album, but like a lot of people here I've already heard (and have tapes of) over half the songs on the album, either on the radio sessions or at gigs. And no, they're not about to reveal a new "techno" direction... Sure, the album will have different song styles on it, otherwise it would get monotonous and dull very quickly; why is that a problem? You have to remember that we are all B&S fans, and we have all been waiting for this album for a long time, so of course people are going to get a bit excited about it. And we won't be disappointed... If indie snobbery won't allow us to get enthusiastic now, can we turn the list into a snob-free zone? 60 days and counting! (And only 53 days until the new Divine Comedy album...) See y'all on Saturday... Stu G PS I, too, think it would be a good idea for B&S to play Baltimore. Even though I don't know where it is.
