Anyone care for "Grapes of Wrath" from Canada in the mid 80's? A little more folksy than the Housemartins, but similarities exist. Maybe it's a little bit of the harmonizations, not the song speeds.
i liked their lp they made with john leckie but i haven't many kind words for the band that they morphed into Ginger. they seem to be critics darlings especially in places like Q magazine but they are not quite the same. i love prefab sprout though and would say that the last record 'andromeda heights' is beautiful as well, especially the gorgeous 'swans'. i always considered the judybats to be the american version of prefab sprout, sadly they were completely ignored and died after four fabulous records. keith mcl thinking it would be lovely if paddy mcaloon actually released the christmas record he always threatens people with. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
