Goodness. I pop out for the weekend and when I come home I have a mountain of email waiting for me. So I thought I should say thank you. Thank you. I have enjoyed hearing the gossip from assorted gigs and picnics and footie matches and such. And I wasn't even very jealous. My envy attack only lasted a few minutes, while I cursed my parents for not making a fortune as gold prospecters and making me a glamourous heiress who could be a part of the international jetset and swan around parks in Scotland with her Louis Vuitton luggage and Jackie O sunglasses. And if I was a glam heiress I'd have used my vanity case and hat box as goal posts and not have cared when they got muddy as I would just buy some more. Wouldn't that be grand? I also liked the reports of gigs as it makes me even more excited about what's in store for me when I get to Birmingham next week. By the way, does anyone actually like Birmingham? It seems to get terribly bad press and everyone hates it. Is it worse or better than Wolverhampton? Another thing I've been wondering about: as there is no pre-gig gathering in Birmingham (as far as I'm aware), how will sinisterians recognise each other? Will we look more twee than all the other people there? Will we all have ribena fangs round our mouths and be leaping up and down from excessive red bull consumption? This weekend I went to a RAWK club in town for someone's birthday. It was very funny and somewhat surreal. Some noisy nu-metal nonsense fades and on comes... Respect by Aretha. The dance floor is filled by the out-of-place people who have also been dragged out for someone's birthday. Then Wheatus comes on and the out-of-place people scuttle off again to the corner. Other dance floor stormers included A Town Called Malice, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and some old crooner from a car advert, to which the loved one and I slow danced. I went to the mortgage place the other day and signed lots of bits of paper that will soon make me a home owner, which is, frankly, just ridiculous. I'm far too young for all that nonsense, but I am very much looking forward to living in a house that has stairs and everything, unlike the council flat I'm in at the moment. Real stairs, real coal fire and real gnomes in the yard and maybe even a real doorbell. Someone (i'm sorry but I can't remember who) said that they were very glad to join the list and I would like to echo that sentiment. It's nice here and I'm really rather fond of it. I will also echo James: Don't forget the Leicester picnic on Sunday July 1 at 2 pm. I know there are things going on in London that weekend, but if you can't go there, come here. There are many many pubs near the park. Listening to Billie Holliday and enjoying the sunshine, Madeleine xxx _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org.
