John Denver Bongiorno, Principessas! *********************** How many of you are retail slaves or corporate workhounds? How many of you want to punch the timeclock where you punch in and out and in and out.. each and (seemingly)every live long day? Dreadful, isn't it?Is there any virtue to be found, fellow Sinisterines, in the Dilbert-esque, office cubicle lifestyle? Because that's all I've known for nearly 16 months now, and I fear I'll go absolutely mad if I don't find something worthwhile or redeeming about the work I do. Cold cash in hand and fatty foods in fridge would normally suffice as a relatively good answer, but if you're at all like me, you just can't help but keep your chin rested upon your palm, your sights fixed on what's beyond the glass window, always thinking how sweet life would be, if only it could be lived as the closing lines of Legal Man. "Get Out of the Office, & Into the Springtime, Get Out of the City, & Into the Sunshine.." Ohhh, if only. I'm rambling again. I always am. Well, the new Legal Man single shall be released to the salivating public tomorrow, and the knowledge of that is inspiring a lightness in my heart that I've got to spread. I'm really looking forward to the long walk down to the indie record shoppe, where I'll place my hard (or hardly) earned dollars upon the counter, and then take my prized possession off with me to a nearby teahouse. Like a kiddy at Christmas, I rip the cellophane wrapper off with a fearsome zeal, panting at the thought of what I'll find inside. Slowly I inspect the sleeve, noting minor details like the smell of the ink used to print it all up, and the texture of the paper used. Then comes the cherished moment of sitting back with a cup of Green & Chamomile, reading the sleeve notes and lyrics. A smile as widespread as the music itself blemishes my otherwise humourless face. It's a hallowed, all too rare event. Anyway, I'm currently working through hour number 7 here at the office. I work as an Electronic Support Account Specialist in a Customer Service Call Center for EarthLink Network, Inc., located in good ol' Pasadena, City of Roses. But lo, all is not rosey. I'm begining to resent these four walls with a sickness previously unknown to me. It's not that I'm a lazy soul, just one that needs creative and artistic fulfillment.. and I've just not seen enough of that these months. How many of you, dearest readers, are or have experienced the same thing? How does one get out of a rut like this and not sacrifice job security, financial security, and not anger the wife who wants to buy something nice at the end of the week and have her hair done? Simplify, Simplify. That's what Thoreau says. I'd love to give that a go, but I'm afraid that's what the wife would want me to do, too.. "GO!" =) I suppose I'll just do some job searching and scour the city with resumes galore. That and daydream some more. Perhaps I should become a Legal Man. Tomorrow. To Better Days....
