We seem to be divided into two categories here (or three if you count the people who just don't give a toss and are probably getting bored of all this!); 1. The 'hard-core' indie fan. Listens to John Peel. Thinks variety means hearing as many different bands as possible, preferably ones no-one has heard of. Thinks credibility is gained by having seen "Tonto's Exploding Penis" playing down the Frog & Sprocket on a Monday night in January. 2. The 'mainstream' indie fan. Listens to Mark Radcliffe. Thinks variety means having Carter USM, Ben Folds Five, Divine Comedy, Space, Radiohead and Abba in the same CD collection (all examples from my own as it happens). Doesn't care about credibility. Now obviously it's not for me to say which is right, everyone's welcome to their own taste. But every person on this list has one thing in common, a love of B&S, so let's not turn this into a slanging match between 'real music fans' and the rest, OK? Stuart G Oh, and Duke, I would rather listen to ANY guitar band than the Spice Girls... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
