well, you can rest assured that no-one has registered twice. block voting though should be made a crime along with tactical voting. surely it's of more value (any value?) if we are truthful, i mean, i've seen that a lot of you have voted songs as zero rating!!! are you sure? we are talking of belle and sebastian, and if you're just voting for a song, but are unsure what to give it, then simply listen to it. and remember that when you vote we're not comparing it to radiohead or the ilk, you're simply saying how much you like a particular track. who cares what's at no' 1? i didn't create it for that, i just wanted a way to be able to show the world which songs we love and which are less loved, sort of a guide to where to start with b&s (a bad idea since all high rating songs are unreleased or from tigermilk!).
It's interesting how SM's less parochial songs, the ones that don't tell you a story about some girl and her adventures, or include lines about, say, throwing discus for Liverpool and Widnes, tend to be less favoured. Songs like "The Boy Done Wrong Again", "You Made Me Forget My Dreams" or, in a different way, "Electronic Renaissance". I'm really suprised about TBDRA now being bottom of the heap - sometimes it's my favourite song on IFYS. When the piano goes d-d-da-da da-da (my musical training serves me well again) and I hear the line "All I wanted was to sing the saddest song" my heart very nearly breaks <sniff>.
and i think that 'photo jenny' is much neglected at position 28, but i don't mind, since i know we all still love it, just maybe not as much as we love our fading tape of Rhoda (who's got this? only two of you have voted?).
