DISCLAIMER: This is an extremely long, digressing, rambling bit of babble. If you're in a hurry...you know the drill. Hello to all the.. 1400.. sinister people out there.. Ah hem. Getting a bit of a stage fright there. I sometimes wonder what kind of people sit at their computers and read away the words I write here. It's quite impossible to imagine, really. I think, that as much as I love this new wee invention called the internet, and the computer, and all the cool gadgets and toys and paraphernalia that come along with it, I still hold the strong opinion that people who sit at their computers reading something intensely do have a tendency to look, well, rather stoned and cut off from the rest of the world. The same opinion I hold of the television, too, actually. (Forgive me if I offend any computer engineer-types who sit at their computers all day actually doing productive things, instead of ee-mailing all your friends and nagging at them to go pick up Jonathan David.) I'm rather sad today, partly because I have gotten absolutely nothing done, I still have not sent all the letters and presents and bits and pieces like that that I was supposed to send quite a while ago, and because I can't decide whether I should go visit Will in New York or not. I also have none of my close friends who have seen me with Will to tell me what to do, because I'm just a baby and I can never tell what I should do with Will. My other friend was having a bit of a crisis with the love of her life the other day. She stayed up until 4 in the morning talking to me and him both on the internet. Which got me thinking about my own love life. It occured to me that Will is the only person I've liked/gone out with/crushed on/whatever you want to call it who does not use the internet (email, messages, etc.). Most of my breakthrough moments in the past two years was through talking with my friends online. So I have a question for you lot, which you can answer or not, depending on your mood. The fact that most of my intellectual stimulation happens online.. Is it because I'm using the internet and reading words and is able to savor them that I make so many more significant ideas, or is it simply because I spend a larger portion of the day by myself at my computer than I do talking in person to other people? It's kind of interesting to think about. Or at least, I think so. I couldn't go to sleep last night, so I stayed in bed for four hours, from midnight until four o'clock in the morning, having imaginary conversations in my head with my little imaginary friends. (No, I do not need any psychological help.) It was fun. Hmm. I think I shall off and stare at the dishes until they clean themselves up. Cheers, Hye Min PS: B&S content- For some reason, whenever I start listening to the Fall's Hex Enduction Hour, I never seem to be able to finish it. Something always comes up in the middle of it, which perhaps explains why the first track, The Classical, is my favorite song on the album. I actually tallied up all the minutes and seconds of each song, and the entire album comes out to exactly 1 hour, give or take 0.3 seconds. Preetty darn cool, eh? Um, yeah, so that never happens with Belle and Sebastian. I can always listen to their albums all the way through. (Fate from the above, I'm sure...) Oh! and I found a GERMAN version of the Smith's William, It Was Really Nothing in mp3 format. I have a long story to tell about that song, too, which I will in my next post. Please do remind me if I forget, unless you don't want to hear, in which case you shouldn't remind me, but I might still write it anyway because I remember this. Whew.
