Was the squeaky set from the Radio1 session? Mine sounds exactly like you described it. Chipmunk style vocals, very silly and I hardly listen to it because of that. But it was a nice girl that sent it, so I wasn't rude about it. I don't know if the tape it came from was warped, or if I have my cassette player on the wrong speed (I can't find the control for that) but something was wrong. -----Original Message----- From: Nick Dastoor <nickdastoor@yahoo.com> To: sinister@majordomo.net <sinister@majordomo.net> Date: Friday, October 23, 1998 9:39 AM Subject: Sinister: Encores were made for men, not Belle and Sebastian

I don't think that B&S have been playing ANY encores. Which I think is GREAT. I'm so sick of encores. The band walks off the stage, goes back to have a drink and an a 30-second rest, while we're supposed to stay packed in like sardines clapping and cheering to show our great appreciation and then pretend that we called them back for an encore?! I'm thrilled that they're not playing any encores. Just another entry into the file of "Reasons to Love Belle and Sebastian."
Yes. Encores are rubbish. However, didn't they do an encore on their Paris Black Session show? It certainly sounds like 'Slap your Cock Around' was played after some goading. "We don't know any other songs," claimed a half-wit band member, before remembering one.
Incidentally, a kind man taped me the Satanic Session, and a very nice recording it is too. *BUT* it does sound like it's being played at the wrong speed. Has anyone else noticed this? Not only do all the songs sound like they're being played too fast, but the voices sound very squeaky. Now I've never heard Stuart David sing before, but I can't believe he sounds that silly. Can anyone verify this?
Does 'Paper Boat' make anyone else hold their nose and pull the chain? Are those lyrics crap on purpose? Am I missing some big joke? Nice breezy tune though.
FAX ME corner:
Does anyone know the exact date of the two Mark Radcliffe sessions? I want to put it on my tape inlay because I am like to hold my P!O!O! in as long as possible. A FAQ from Katrina long ago said the first one was in July 96, but that's all it says. And Keith's FAQ is all vague and bearing in mind that he says that the first one was "around September 1996" I'm inclined not to trust him anyway. Unless Katrina's not to be trusted, a thought I cannot countenance without my whole world-view collapsing.
