I overjoyed by the enthusiasm for the auction so far. This is a great idea! And now for the science debate (Pixidustlady asked for feedback so here it is - with smiles of course...) margarita said: "With all this talk about cloning going on i can only come to one conclusion.....people who want it hate themselves, trying to make a better "you" through the marvels of science. The thought is rather idiotic when you think about it, i mean whats the sense?... Even if this idea does work out the copy is never as good as the original....and do you know why? Because we are not and never will be as smart as god." Personally, I think the Magnetic Fields are a clone(or clones). What with Mr. Merritt playing all those instruments, rather badly I might add. I think he cloned himself for the purposes of his band. The argument presented by Margarita is quite relevant here. The Magnetic Fields will never be as good as... But, I don't know of an example where the harnessed power of the atom was used to wipe out small nations (if the atom bomb is being implied here). Maybe I'm being careless but I can't think of anything. Pixidustlady essentially said that humans must "thin out our herd" in order to make the necessary evolution; that we are allowing too many bad genes into the pool. I think humans may be tackling this issue through gene therapy and the like - the idea of replacing bad genes with good ones. Aren't they looking into this as possible cures for disease? Lady Pixidust makes a valid point but I still think this is a hurdle that will be cleared. I also think that we messed up a lot of things because of misuse of science - not science itself. And we will need science to correct/amend our mistakes.
