I am confused by two things, and would appreciate if anyone could help. Firstly, I just the new Delgados - by jingo it's brilliant (although Dave Friedman's production makes it sound like a Mercury Rev/Flaming Lips album
There were few more disappointing albums for me last year than Mercury Rev's excruciating progfest - I remember the sheer boyish joys of Yerself Is Steam. This year, it's the turn of the Delgados to churn out some over-produced rubbish. Apparently they were getting sick of being described as "lo-fi". Not going to happen now, is it? That Dave Friedman has an uncanny knack of making everyone sound like Supertramp. Have the male members of the Delgados grown beards? I bet they have.
