mainstream
America is going to put up with them......
actually i think there is a pattern to follow for english bands trying to make it over here and that is to release a rock single first, let it get a little airplay but mostly remain unmemorable and then for the second single release a cliche-laden ballad with accompanying black and white video(ala cranberries and oasis) apparently we yanks think black and white portrays depth and meaningfulness and couples-skate worthiness. not necessarily underrated but perhaps underappreciated(especially by evil richard branson's label) is Moose who have released three fantastically breezy and delicate records and yet remain totally obscure. Maybe they have been unable to live down their shoegazer past but Russel Moose has the wooziest voice in pop and he is just lovely. I keep hearing they are self-releasing their new record 'twelve new ways to fly' soon, does anyone know when? keith m oh and i have the bathers 'kelvingroovebaby' and i love it, liz fraser appears on it:) +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
