i would recommend buying crooked rain, crooked rain first. since its the most pop and easily accesible it will convert you to a pavement lover immediately. slanted remains fourth in my list of favorite pavement albums (after wowee zowee, crooked, and stuff up the cracks - a bootleg). by the way, there is a pavement mailing list and it is really quite good. the address for it is pavement@uts.edu.au i believe you just put "subscribe" in the message... boy sets fire NicamBurnie wrote:

Can you recommend a good first (Pavement) album to waste my hard-(non)earned cash on? I'm just an ickle ignorant girlie who doesn't know what she's doing in a big scary record emporium...
I say:
Buy all of them! Erm, that doesn't help much does it? Well, why don't you start from the beginning (because they're all great) with SLANTED AND ENCHANTED. Very scratchy sounding compared to their new, hi-fi (as opposed to lo-fi, yawn!) stuff, but still my favourite album of theirs, probably. Yeah, go out and buy it.....but take care in the BIG SCARY RECORD emporium..............("emporium"?)....hmmmmmmm...
*******I ask anyone:**************
Is there a Pavement mailing list?
