Hi Seed of Onan, Steady Mike spoke eloquently (as always) about newness in music: I'm not clever enough to join in a discussion with the likes of him, Mr Pinefox, The Duke Of Harangue, et al but a comment on the Go-Kart Mozart album (B&S context via Stuart M's T-shirt). (Sample lyrics: In a Rotterdam cell Genet & me get on well He puts his hands on my knee He wants to sodomize me!!! I'm a sailor boy Sailor Boy) I've listened to this record 3 or 4 times now & its still amusing (though I admit that this may not last) and I also admire the way that Lawrence has a P!O!P at everybody & everything regardless of whether its PC or not. There's even tragedy to complement the comedy: that "Right. Is that it? You get one fucking chance & that's what you give me. Fucking children's story. That's it. I've had enough " bit in Mrs Back-To-Front, etc. sounds a bit too bitter, nay heartFelt to be a joke. There again, Lou Reed doing The Barron Knights in a 90's stylee may not be everybody's cup of Sainsbury's Red Label. Perhaps you have to think of it more as Lawrence *Denim's* new pop construction.
