warning: major cynicism ahead. people of a nervous disposition may want to look away.
licks lips in anticipation!
cover versions. put decent cover versions on the b-sides of records. 'reel around the fountain' would be ideal (twas a
real highlight when they played it in glasgow and edinburgh all those months ago). people will buy the record for the cover and fall in love with the original stuff - instant fanbase.
and keep doing things the sarah records way. by which i mean not putting lp tracks on singles. it means that everything
you buy is all new. it also means that you have to buy all
the singles as you know they won't be on the new lp. (think of 'thriller' or something where 80% of the album later turned up as singles - pointless. ok, b&s aren't michael jackson but...).
cynical but foolproof. cover versions are OK, a bit boring for the band perhaps.Singles taken from albums exist as advertisements for the album, so the more they put out, the more albums they sell. Probably. Business is business. And so on.
2 part cd singles are bad, especially when filled up with throwaway stuff (tindersticks anyone?).
I hate two part CDs too. I've got the first part of a Charles and Eddie one in a special sleeve.
and just keep the records in the shops. went looking for another copy of '3, 6, 9...' on saturday.
You live and learn. Perhaps Jeepster or their distributors expected less demand, and I suppose it makes more economic sennse to fall short than to overdo it. Well, perhaps that should be the other way round. One for all the people bored in their economics lectures.
i've only just finished it so any ideas would be apreciated i have all most of what i could do has allready been done by Andrew Dean
why bother then?
A lot of websites start off as a project to enable the person to learn HTML or whatever it's called. I tried once, but fell at the first hurdle. It was going to be about the bombardment of Guernica, a sadly neglected topic in WWW land. Mind you, I know virtually nothing about it, so my intention was just to get a bit of practice in, in case I actually need it one day. The new website appears to be the result of a bit of leftover lemur space, so I applaud the author's attempt to make use of his time and space. In the future it might change completely and become something unique. It's inevitable that some things are repeated, otherwise a stray "surfer" wouldn't know what's going on. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
