That's quite a lovely line isn't it? Its in a Jawbox song and when J. Robbins sings it he does it with such force that his voice cracks a tiny bit. Its one of my fave musical moments ever. Jawbox were so good...but like Seinfeld they left us too soon. Any other Jawbox fans on the list? To elaborate on the little tidbit I wrote earlier about the Beach Boys vs. the Beatles: I think its pretty obvious the Beatles had the better albums and pretty much the better career, but for some reason their music just doesn't hit me like Brian Wilson's painfully pretty orchestrations do. I mean, it doesn't get much better than A Day in the Life, but I doubt it gets any better than Don't Worry Baby or God Only Knows (as someone so astutely pointed out). I'll concede that the Beach Boys only had two good records at the most, but when they really hit the nail on the head they almost make the Beatles seem like an afterthought. Its sort of like the IYFS vs. TBWTAS debate, which boils down to consistancy vs. flash in the pan brilliance. Just my two cents... Thanks to Mick McMick I know have more B&S bootlegs and radio sessions than I know what to do with. The Beat Patrol version of Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner is so good its hard to believe. If that and Lord Anthony really are to be on the next EP as Stuart D. said I think I can safely say that will be my fave EP by a longshot. Not that I don't like the other ones, because I love them to peices. I wonder what the third song will be? I'm hoping its "Rhoda" but if its not I'd like to see "Wrong Girl" on there. Rhoda hasn't been mentioned much on the list but I like that song alot. Very pretty. Someone started a lively thread about socks. I spent $50 on three pairs of socks over the winter because I hate white socks and I'm an idiot. Then when I started wearing shorts I realized I looked like an arse walking around town with navy socks with shorts so I had to dig out my loathed white "tubes" and I've been wearing them all summer. I still look like an arse but to a somewhat lesser degree. Fugazi is playing a free show in DC on Thurs so I'm very happy about that. Last time I saw them the guitar player walloped me in the head with his guitar as he spasmodically strutted around the stage. Luckily I didn't bleed all over myself but I did get a nasty lump and afterwards he apologized like mad. He even signed my Rites of Spring T-shirt. It appears my being has been split into two as I am registered twice on the Crush List. I have two votes apeice for "Steve Colmus" and also "SteveC(Walkn)." I'm not sure if this is some kind of sign of bad karma or something... Bass Ale is quite amazing...you Brits are very lucky.
