... since I posted to Sinister ... it could even be years maybe? Hello to all of you, hope all is well where you are, I just have an extremely small public service announcement that you may or may not be interested in ... it's kind of a what-I've-been-up-to, but also a total plug, so take it whichever way you will. Since I returned to Australia, I have been managing a Melbourne based singer/songwriter called Ned Collette, who has been doing quite well down here, supporting and making friends with lots of international folk when they come to tour Australia. Some of them have liked him enough to then invite him to play with them outside of this big brown land we have down here, which leads me to the plug ... If you're in the UK or Europe and are planning on going and seeing Camera Obscura or Joanna Newsom in the next month or so, please get down early and catch Ned in support as he strums his little heart out to try and convince you all that you should be his record. He's not playing on all the dates, just these ones:- 27th March - Edinburgh Liquid Rooms 29th March - Inverness Ironworks 30th March - Aberdeen Lemon Tree 2nd April - Newcastle Academy 2 3rd April - Birmingham Glee Club 4th April - Southampton Joiners all supporting Camera Obscura 14th April - Dublin Olympia 16th April - Paris La Cigalle 17th April - Cologne Gloria 18th April - Brussels AB all supporting Joanna Newsom 19th April - Oxford Zodiac 20th April - Manchester Jabez Clegg 21st April - Glasgow ABC all supporting Camera Obscura Maybe if you're undecided as to whether you can be bothered to go to the show early, you can take a listen on his myspace at http://www.myspace.com.nedcollette He will also be playing in London at the ICA on May 4th at the Roots and Shoots night and in Bristol on May 9th supporting Paula Frazer w/Tarnation. There will be other shows too - once I get around to booking them - but you'll probably have to join his mailing list or something to find them out, as I don't think I can abuse the list again with such nonsense. So there, a new artist for you to go and listen to! I'll be over for the London show, so I may see some of you that I know there. I could recommend a bunch more Australian artists too that you might like - namely, New Buffalo, Rand and Holland and Emily Ulman - but again, that's kinda flagrant list abuse. Sorry Honey. Much love from across the miles ... Cheers, Katrina.
