The BMX Bandits are very jingly-jangly pop (Teenage Fanclub "grew out" of them) and are OK on record, but to catch them at their best, you have to see them live. I saw them at last year's Planet Pop festival (supported by the incredible Secret Goldfish), and I haven't grinned so much at a gig in ages. Just a massive cheesy smile, plastered to my face, as I enjoy the bizarre bobbins that Duglas was coming out with, as he stands there wearing a PVC satchel with Minnie Mouse on it, and wandering round the pub carrying a tea-cup of hot water. So, in summary: Great live, average on record. Rod.
Ooh... do we get to chuck buckets of cold water over each other, just like real anarchists do? (Actually, I'm busy on the 12th -- can we be anarchic the next day?) Rod.
Mark "Good looking one out of Ride" Gardener? If so, is there any recorded stuff out there? Rod.
I thought Menswe@r were dead good. I managed to get a copy of their debut 7" (sold out within 2 hours - Aye, my arse. I bought it in Stirling on the Wednesday afternoon), and was thrilled to see on the Chart Show that weekend that it was worth "as much as 50". Wonder what it's worth now...? Ah, the heady BritPop summer of '95. Happy days!
FWIW, they have apparently recorded a new album, but London Records have dropped them, so they're shopping around for a new label. Rod.
