okay, so because i have lots of stuff to do and i don't want to do it, i'm going to share the beauty of who and whom with everyone (everyone, that is, who doesn't balk at the subject of the e-mail). so this is how one does it: if, in a sentence, you can put in "him" in the place you mean to put in "who" or "whom", put in "whom". here's an example: she wondered ____ the cardigan belonged to. so switch the sentence around so the blank space is nearer to what it's modifying: the cardigan belonged to ____. you can fill in "him" where that blank spot is, so you can therefore use "whom". got it? it also helps to remember that "whom" always follows a prepositional phrase. yeah, yeah, yeah. off i go ...the grammar police... +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
