well, i bought 'the green fields of foreverland' yesterday and was listening to it at bagpuss boy's house when his EIGHT year old sister suddenly piped up: "what IS this terrible music?" poor isobel, forever dogged by criticism. still, i rather like it. that melancholy country music vibe on 'renew and restore' is lovely, and struan's appearance on 'a chapter in the life of mathiew' was a charming surprise. i was quite shocked by the rawkiness of 'weathershow' though. there, that was my review - several months out of date but never mind. to celebrate surviving the eclipse (we were on top of a hill, it got slightly darker and quite chilly and some people chanted) bagpuss boy and i went cd shopping for the whole afternoon. he bought 3...6...9 on my insistence, er i mean impartial advice. i bought 'the fidelity wars' as well as 'the green fields' and it's very good. (but in parts sounds a bit like the longpigs - yawn.) i also discovered that they now have volleyball and basketball courts on brighton seafront which was exciting - maybe we could have a sinister match one day. i suggest this as an alternative to football, which i'm not very good at. small children can beat me. then in the evening bagpuss boy played some mogwai for me and i'm afraid to say it made me fall asleep. mr burke - don't feel bad about your name. there have been lots of distinguished burkes in british history, including edmund who was an advocate of tolerance and freedom in the 18th c. until the french revolution came along and turned him into a raving reactionary idiot. so, a good role model there... lovely to have erica back. i do hope you weren't *wearing* your bikini top when it was ripped away by the wind into the cruel jaws of an austrian hound. possibly see some of you tomorrow... archel xxx ***** archel@iname.com http://members.tripod.com/~RPlayforth/welcome.htm +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
