Sinister: A Dream Of All the Bowlie Kids That Hang Around You
Hallo, Bollocks, there goes another reference to Camber Sands, sorry. Oops, I think that bollocks is one too: "Oh my God, I just found out what your bollocks is! I always thought it was your ass!" :) Actually I don't know why I am apologising for mentioning ATP: I am mystified as to why an activity common to a score of listees & half of Belle and Sebastian should not be a suitable topic on Sinister. Meatier, Beatier, Bigger & Bouncier is what struck me on first listening to the promo of Geometrid I acquired today. Of course I should really have put it away for a couple more weeks before playing it, but I think that would be a bit silly. If I were fortunate enough for someone to give me a copy of FYHC,YWLAP I would of course listen to it immediately, seeing as how we haven't had a release from the band for a millennium or so. I wonder how far one could take the "not listening until official release date" position, anyway? What if Jeepster posted pre-orders so as to arrive on the Friday before release Monday again? Would you wait 3 days before playing it? And if so, at what time on Monday morning would it be OK to start the CD player? 9 a.m. when the shops open, or say, 10.30 a.m. as being the time when one would first get home from town? Anyway, Geometrid. I like Stuart David, & I don't think he smells of wee at all. But I have to admit to being a wee bit disappointed that the album gently waves farewell after a mere 35 minutes & 10 seconds. Leaving the question of value for money aside altogether, the album is cracking, more up tempo & diverse than its predecessor, & has more than one tune :) The touching romanticism of the Stuart & Wee Karn story is absent, but the humour isn't, & other childlike stories are told with that impish grin, to toe tapping beats, with added bleeps'n bloops. Excellent stuff, but I think I'm making it sound boring & its NOT so I'll shut u BTW, the Looper site lists UK dates in June, see http://www.geometrid.co.uk/news.htm or if you're too lazy: Sun 4 Hove- Old Market Mon 5 Bristol- Fleece & Firkin Tues 6 Portsmouth- Wedgewood Rooms Wed 7 Manchester- Music Box Thurs 8 London- Camden Dingwalls Fri 9 Harlow Square Sat 10 Glasgow- King Tut's Sun 11 Edinburgh (venue tbc) Mick, if you're looking for somewhere to put rude Top Tens, why not ask Honey to put them next to the Body Parts page, where I see that another, thankfully blurry, winkle has emerged from its shell?
