Sinister: SINISTER:hello, lots of stuff here actually!
Hi everyone! I'm a new listee, how do you all? And do I feel young now..er, can I ask something please? what's Sarapoly? Sorry, I haven't got the best of Sarah records, even tho' i did think some of you were talking about me, coz thats my name, Sarah! And does anyone know anything about the manchester gigs? i haven't seen B&S live yet...and I need to! Oh, and to whoever said Steven wells NME gets on their nerves, Lucy was it, sorry, my memory is, durr!, i think he's a great thing actually. He does my head in sometimes, but he's a good writer, makes you pay attention to what he writes, and always has a point to what he says, in his own words, a 'snotty middle class punk poet wanker', ..or something! He's the only interesting writer in NME these days, I MUCH prefer MM, better variety of writers, articles, funnier 'humourous' section, eg diary of the manics fan! But James Oldham! Didn't he just remind you of a boy whose mum wouldn't let him at the ginger hobnobs! I thought that was really immature writing for him. Oh well, that was the end of my first post! BTW, have not got Little Ink Movies/polaroids due to spending money on my BRILLIANT fanzine, called FEATHER BOAS & NAPALM, all contributions welcome, which I might as well plug here! I sent a questionnaire to B&S ages ago, but so far, no reply..oh well. I am trying to be Zen-like about it..I'd love one now so I could just say up yours to the NME! Lovehearts and stars and just coincidentally finished reading CITR-- Sarah! **************************** FEATHER BOAS & NAPALM ZINE C'MON! Saropoly: catalogue number 50 in the great Sarah records discography... Saropoly was a board game in which you pretended to be a record company mogul dashing around a 'virtual' city of Bristol (ie a folded out drawn map thingie) collecting all the items essential to make a loverly Sarah 7" single in a plastic bag. How quaint. It was a lot of fun actually, but only, i suspect, if you got the jokes. I guess if you played it now you'd be going 'huh?' a lot. And not laughing. But we laughed because we played it in the sun and we are old. ha ha. i too had two copies but one became a prize in the first Tangents bumper competition and was won by, um, someone in America who wanted to play it with her sister and parents. How quaint. It didn't mention Belle & Sebastian, but i feel that a Belleopoly would be a rather spiffing idea as part of the promo doo-dah thingy ideas. Play as one of the members of the band as you traverse Glasgow, splashing along, through George Square, trying to dodge the raindrops, like Billy the Whizz. Ahem. And trying to get your shopping done, and trying to avoid NME journalists. If you play as Chris you have the extra added burden of trying to find a copy of Tigermilk to replace the one you gave away. You could try and find Elvis (and tell Scully to come home if you see him while you're at it), cook some brocolli, do all the things that Pop Stars do. Or not. keep the faith chums, the duke PS: Prize to the first person to spot my artfully slotted in Pop reference. -- Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ Tangents On-Paper: PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@mail.zynet.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . "we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun..." and "splashing along...." two pop references! Go straight to jail, do not pass go.... Duke, your real name has infiltrated your message. This is ironic, as I'm thinking of signing myself as "The Major" from now on. The Major The Major is a twenty-nine year old layabout, except when he has some work to do, which is translating things, yesterday a brush catalogue. I still haven't recovered. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. .
