Sinister: nottingham forest / dog on wheels
Okay I am not going to swear in this email but I am very, very tempted. I was slouching on the sofa, watching MTV Alternative Nation. It was playing Cornershop's ' Brimful of Asha on the 45 ' , which out of interest is a good song. At the end of the record I began thinking, "Belle and Sebastian did a video for Lazy Line Painter Jane. It was shown on the ITV Chart Show. I wish it would come up next" This is not something I usually think and to my utter amazement at something that just couldn't be a coincidence, the opening tones of ' Dog on Wheels ' came on!!!!! What are the chances of a Belle and Sebastian video being shown at any time. It was so weird. First Belle and Sebastian promo I have seen before. The video: Okay it is basically shot in a slightly fuzzy tone. It might feature members of the band ( I dunno what they look like - damn those Manchester gig-goers!!!) but who knows. They were searching for a Dog on Wheels and thats it really. Not the best description really but there was a wall with the following graffitti: "La Pastie de la Bourgeoisie". Wow! Okay - next bit I figure that if there are now over 400 people on this list ( + I keep seeing " hi I am new " messages all the time ) then someone must support Nottingham Forest, like me. Also I suspect that the most of us are british considering B&S's well...y'know...scottishness. Also has anyone been to my home town? It is near Heathrow. It is called Ashford and it is NOT the Ashford in Kent. Does anyone live near me? Don't worry I am not an internet freakazoid! Just a yes or no will suffice I don't want to meet up or anything. I am just curious. Also are there any Germans out there? I am doing A level German and am gonna do German & Linguistics at Bangor in North Wales. Anyone out there to practice german emails mit? Okay - oh yeah - I am only recently into the Smiths. I bought ' Queen is Dead ' after hearing Cemetery Gates. What other albums should I buy? I also got ' Southpaw Grammar ' by Morrissey for £3.99 which I also like. What good albums has he done? In a tape swap earlier in the year. I made a couple of tapes of Radiohead bsides for someone in Newcastle. I filled one side up with Belle and Sebastian 'cause I'd run out of gloom from ver 'head. He emailed me back and said he absolutely loved B&S and he has now bought all there stuff (except TM of course!). I will now forever know Lazy Line Painter Jane as " that song wiv the bird innit " as he so eloquently put it! OTHER NEWS: I was in a (proper) record shop in Twickenham the other day and asked just out of interest if he had Tigermilk. He said no but told me an interesting story of how his friend sold a vinyl copy for a fiver!!!! What a mistaka to maka!!!! Okey Dokey I am going now bye NORTHY!!! ``Don't be afraid to take a big step. Northy, i'm a not a forest fan, but anyway... (tho stuart pearce is a great great man...) you asked about morrissey albums; i think the best are viva hate and vauxhall and i, tho you might like bona drag, which is a singles and b-sides compilation: i've gone off him rather recently - i saw him live a year or two ago and he seemed just to be very lacklustre and uninterested, and the last few albums have been patchy to say the least. still, i don't need to worry now, having discovered a band at leats as good as the smiths were over ten years ago (and i think we all know who that is, chldren, don't we?) anyway, that's all i wanted to say. tho i am curious as to who the other cam.ac.uk people are on the list: when i checked last week, i saw about four out of 270-odd, which is oddly high, but i recognised no-one's address. bye! alastair ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
