My reading of the "thrush from licking railings" lines was that said heroine was bending over, her face pressed in imagined ecstasy against park railings as she was cruelly entered from behind by one of the many boys she was willing to get "in the mud, on her knees" for. The candida infection was, to me, just an unfortunate side-effect of the joy of giving. Honestly. This was the first song that made me believe that B&S weren't just innocent, cuddly-things-discussing virgins, but actually hot sex monsters (apart from Mick Cooke, who I reckon is all mooth (and boy, what a mooth), but nae troosers). I was a bit shaken at first, but quickly realised that it's their ability to touch so poetically on all areas of life's experience that made me love them so much. Having said that, if anyone can enlighten me that LLPJ is about something other than a girl who's only way of enticing the attention of others, and thus proving her own self-worth, is by sleeping with them, please let me know. I've been accepting this version of events for the past nine months, and I find it quite a sad tale.
