Why is it with Belle and Sebastian songs I find it much easier to work out which ones I dislike most (obviously a relative term, simply meaning that they're on a par with things like "Paint a Vulgar Picture", say, or "Hell is round the corner"). I'm not sure I should say what pops my cork least, except for the fact that A Century of Elvis annoys me - why couldn't they have used a different tune? Unless of course it was written before ...Fakers, in which case I still reckon it's a mistake. Great story that it is, though. I'm too frightened of vendettas to list their least inspired songs, but if anyone wants to discuss this privately, feel free. For the record, so that you don't think I'm a traitor, I absolutely love and worship We Rule the School, String Bean Jean, Dog on Wheels, Expectations, The State I am In, ...Sinister, Judy, Le Pastie, LLPJ, and, oh, fuck it, everything they've ever done, bar none.
