Sinister: Re: Red House Painters
The first is Red House Painters. They are from San Francisco,
Hey! Someone else has heard of them! Even my American flat-mate gave me blank looks when I mentioned them. I love this band and when I saw them in London last year they played for more than two hours - now thats what I call value for money. "Songs For A Blue Guitar" is a classy album, but my favourite songs are "Micheal" and "Down Colourful Hill". And heres my B&S story. When I went to the Union Chapel gig last year, I went with my friends Joe and Phil - "..me and Joe and Phil" just like in "String Bean Jean"! (except we didnt have a bath together!). Sorry - that really wasn't very interesting was it???! Lots of love to everybody from Lisa XXX ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . It's funny how Red House Painters seems to be an obscure group in UK. In France, I wouldn't say they are grand public but we often hear about them. I'm a huge fan of Red House Painters. I love the way Mark Kozelec (singer) always sings, as if the music behind him didn't exist. I mean, whatever the music goes, he's singing with the same depressed and beautifull voice, somewhat like Nico used to do with the Velvets. That makes the whole thing fascinating...
