I think Megan is trying to bait me with this statement; I tried to resist replying, for, oh, five whole minutes, but I am weak. Megan wrote: <<a couple poofs and i would have been in heaven.>> Oh Megan, there are just too many ways to reply. You have sent me on smart comment overload. I realize this was your entire plan from the beginning. Anyone else recall bombs that go POP!? I was thinking of setting some to battle the rise of cynicism, but what does one put in that sort of bomb? Sarah singles would just become pieces of candy-coated shrapnel, and Pastel badges have pins. Lemon curd? I was planning on sitting in the cafe with my tea and chocolate watching these bearers of inspiration and soul being exploded. I suppose there are other means to this goal. As for DH Lawrence, he is one of my favorite comic novelists. His despair and hopelessness is hilarious, especially after writing the same "industrial world bad, let's achieve new eden" themes over and over. I like in _Women In Love_ the discussion about plant reproductive systems and ways of learning that goes on before the class of little ones. And who can forget the men wrestling naked in front of the fire... That said, his short stories are much better because he is limited by their size. James Joyce is hilarious too. I used to get odd looks in class when I mentioned how humorous these books are. So spurned by literature I had to turn to art history as a major.
