OK!!! time to apologize to the people at Columbia House, that evil CD mail- order company... You know the ones who advertise "12 CDs for $1!!!" and only after you send in your intial order do you realize you've sold your soul to the devil... Despite the fact that I owe them about $78 for some New Order Cds sent about 2 years ago, they continue to mail me catalogues and oh! how lucky, cos this month they feature Belle and Sebastian. Listen to this (somewhat corny and slightly erroneous) review: "If you buy only one album this month, *this* is the one to get! His effortlessly melodic miniatures recall the classic beauty of Nick Drake or Simon & Garfunkel while his lyrics dissect the intricate social ups and downs of lovelorn young people with crazy dreams and small-town frustrations. And all of it might have remained a real secret if his friends hadn't formed a band on a lark in 1995 and recorded the very out-of-print "Tigermilk" - now fetching upwards of $200 for original copies - for a school business project.
