Sinister: kicking against the pricks
the other night i sat up and wrote a big f-off thesis (well, not quite) thingy about religion n'all that kinda stuff which i was going to send to the list. but then i read andy flynn's post and realised that he was *so* much cleverer than me and i'd just be embarressed. actually, that's not true - i didn't send it cause it'd probably bore you to tears and i don't want people shouting at me and chasing me down the street with big sticks. not any more than they already do, anyway... BUT - the main point of it was that even if you're not into religion and you don't believe in god, or the resurrection or the virgin birth etc., etc., (and i couldn't ever say that i *really* do) i think that if you ignore the nonsense that the churches tell you (not that i'm saying that churches only tell you nonsense...) but still try to live your life in the way that jesus tells people to in the gospels - ie forgiving, loving, being non-judgemental, putting other people before you etc. - then that's probably a good way to live your life. i'm just trying to say that religion isn't all wrong, it's maybe just sometimes people use it in the wrong way. and, of course, i'm only talking about christianity cause i'm an ignorant little so-and-so. it's also worth considering that the people who don't like organised religion are kinda following jesus in a way, cause the one thing he gets angry at in the bible are the scribes and pharasees who tell the people what to think and what they should believe in. b+s bit - i seem to listen to fewer songs every time i put FYSHYCLAP on - this can't be good. did anyone see the go-betweens in london last week? was it fun? go on - you know you want to tell us... luv etc. ian n ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
